Oops, meant the above block was for Boom 19, not 18.

There are going to be alot of great projects going on. As a new quilter I love all of the pictures so I can get a better feel of how fabrics come together. As a weaver I am used to figuring out colors, patterns, and textures but fabrics come together a bit differently, but it is so fascinating to figure out the puzzle:-)
Between last night and this morning, I finished the August blocks for the 2017 Quilting Bee and I am planning to start on the latest wall hanging. Here are the blocks: Here is the next wall hanging all laid out, time to bring it together: |
So far I have prepared a backing so I can pass it along to the LAQ - this is a first time for me as I usually do my own quilting but I wanted this one to be a little special :)
And last night I was handsewing the binding on a table topper and will finish it up tonight. Next up is cutting the pieces for some signature swap blocks. Feeling productive! |
Great blocks, tsc... love that interlocking one.
Can't wait to see your wall hanging all put together. I see you are a lover of blue! |

thanks for the nice comments everyone. I'm taking a short break, got most of the quilting done, now need to do some detail quilting, then embellishments. Meanwhile, I'm working on a UFO that's been hanging around for several years now.
Macybaby- Neat quilt on your long arm. I like the use of different designs in each block. And, how in the world are you managing to do that JN project without paper piecing???? I'm in awe.... I like that block Sewbiz-- the fabrics look cool and refreshing, nice to come back inside from the heat and see them. TCweaves- interesting blocks, are they from a BOM here on the board? I've enjoyed doing BOMs in the past, every time I participated in one I learned something new. That bargello is looking good--something else that's on my bucket list to try someday copycat- will the rickrack be stitched down, or are they put in like tabs to give the baby something to play with---either way, fun baby quilt taught by Grandma- that is a cute baby quilt. Rob - The blocks are from the "New Quilting Bee" here on this board. I had been lurking for a while, following each month and decided to jump in. I am a very new quilter, finished my first quilted piece May 1st of this year. I thought that a BOM would be a good way to get my feet wet, my skills are not to the point of doing a swap. I am amazed at what I have learned and how my block have improved and everyone has really been so helpful when I have had questions. Quilting is like weaving, there is a seperate language to learn:-)
As for the bargello, I did one the last VQW as a wall hanging for my home and it was fun, it is just coincidence that this VQW and me starting another one is happening at the same time. |
