Really lovely!

Aashley - that is an incredible design. I hope you will post the finished quilt.

Well, I'm glad I got what I hoped to get done this past weekend. All 5 sets of fabrics totaling around 15 yards were starched, dried and pressed out. I was also able to make all the cuts and sub-cuts for 1 of the 5 lap quilts and now have 4 blocks set up on the cutting table ready to be stitched out. There's a lot of pieces to this pattern called Movement in Squares by Wendy Sheppard. I'm using my home-made alphabet pins to keep each fabric separated and marked for which block as there are 7 different blocks to make this quilt. The sections are anything from 2.5x2.5 to 2.5 to 14.5.

Any scraps leftover I'll use to lengthen the quilt making either flying geese or diamond sashing on the top and bottom. These quilts are going to a couple guy, father and son that are very tall so this should help make it the correct size for them plus get rid of some of the scraps.

Got my first 2" strips cut for the "center " strings for the baby quilt I need to make. Planning on 10" finished string blocks of brown, tan and white. Center strings are a cute polar bear faces on butterscotch background. These will be the center strings on each block. Random brown, tan and white will be other strings. (Baby is a boy).

Thank you Heather for hosting VQW. When I am able to participate it is the best motivator I know of. I was able to finish the two quilts I was hoping to. The mushroom and fairy picture is the backing of the green one. I just loved it when I saw it. The last picture is my newest creative project other than quilts. It's a market basket, made by taking 7 strands of yarn that you use like one,sae a YouTube video that inspired me. I made the handle, so I figured it would be OK to post on the board. ☺️ it feels so good to be making quilts again not just pillows like I've been making the past few years. Going to read through the thread now, then it will be off to make supper. Happy sewing everyone.

Finally checking in, Quiltah Mama nice work getting your motivation going. Anita - sounds like it will be a cute quilt when you finish. Suz - you can finish ironing my fabric if you want :) I've done a similar quilt, keeping track of pieces with pins is a great time saver.

I got home from the hospital and shopping stops, the only time the car was above 0 was in the parking garage. I saw -7 as a high and the wind chill is -20 right now. But I did manage to find my machine belt at Joann's I got 5 since I'm not sure how long they will be with us. Plus they were buy 3 get 2, I was going to buy 2 anyway so the extra was a no brain-er. I'm doing a bunch of baby geese for one of the 365 blocks just to make sure all the tension is correct, then I will finish the baby quilting.

I think this cold weather has inspired many of us to quilt this weekend! I finished one of the EPP distinctive dresdens I was working on and the second one is 1/3 completed. I picked up two quilts from the shop that i will need to trim and bind. I also sorted though a gigantic bag of binding scraps, sorting them into lights and darks. Maybe I'll have them cut into the length pieces I need by next month's VQW.

Speaking of which, I'm not sure if I gave the dates or not--next VQW is February 14-17, 2025. See you all next month!

Quiltah Mama - what is the name of the wonky hearts quilt pattern? I really like it. And your backing fabric is fabulous.

I didn't get as much accomplished as I'd planned. I quilted three but haven't trimmed them yet. And I only got one more row of the BH mystery assembled. As a decluttering challenge (different group) I emptied out three file cabinet drawers of scraps and am sorting them by size and colour, discarding the pieces too small for me. I should finish this evening. Thank you, Heather for getting this thread started and for your encouragement.

Thank you Heather for the motivation to sew.

I am glad I switched to sewing the block, it's almost finished just have 3 seams and its' done, 8 flying geese in a 3 1/2 block. When switching over the bobbin to my piecing color I found out that there was only 3 feet of thread left on the bobbin. DH is home and were having pizza and movie dinner night, hope to get back to the quilt but most likely will finish it tomorrow. See everyone next month.

The amount of sewing that got done this weekend is amazing.
