Hey all, looking forward to seeing what everyone’s working on. I’m still doing the thread painting on the big butterfly that I was working on last time. Hopefully I can get that part finished this weekend so I can sandwich and quilt it.

I was longarming this quilt top during the last VQW. I'm sewing the binding on now. Here's a photo of the ruler work/custom quilting I did on it. I kept it simple because the quilt will get lots of washing as a baby quilt.

What a nice baby quilt Christine! I enjoy doing ruler when I get around to quilting - I have a sit-down midarm machine. I finished the rest of the 9 patches for Omigosh. They are 2 inches now, finishing at 1 1/2 inches. I had some extra pieces so I ended up with 21 more than needed. The next step on this quilt is cutting 800 2 inch squares to complete these blocks. I have some fabric coming tomorrow for that, so I may get that step done this weekend as well.

I hope to put the outer borders on a crib quilt for my great grandson and hopefully get it sandwiched and start quilting. I hate the sandwiching part and I tend to put it off. I read a new method to keep the batting and backing smooth while you layer the quilt and I want to try it. I normally spray baste my quilts together and I have never been happy with that method. I always end up with wrinkles in my batting.

I'm working on a quilt for my baby granddaughter called Singing in the Rain by Bev McCullough. It's adorable! She has a live FB video every Monday taking a row at a time. I think it's the first live video event I've done.
We're on row 3 and I'm really enjoying it.

I've been working through all of this and have completely lost track of time/space/whatever. Forgot completely that it was a holiday weekend! I've so much to choose from, I don't know where to start! I still need to make some more masks, of course.
I pushed myself to finish putting rows together for an OBW I now love/hate - that needs borders. I've my log cabin throw that needs final borders and finishing. I've another donation quilt that needs the back pieced together, final borders, etc. Somewhere along the way I started a neat set of 'strip tube' cut blocks with some gorgeous batiks and shot cottons...I think that's all. I really do sew, I just rarely finish! QuiltingVagabond, wow! That's a whole lot of piced pieces!

Hubby just came home, he will be home all three days so I'll probably be largely absent from this thread but my thoughts will be with you all. I did layout the top, cut the setting treatment, and set up the Bernina fresh from the shop -- except I've put the knee bar somewhere and I really like my knee bar.

So I've spent an hour or two doing some much needed organizing/cleaning up. I was looking for a strip I thought I cut and I probably did but eventually I figured I still had plenty of leftover and just cut a fresh 3". Usually that makes the missing strip instantly appear but it is still missing.

Part of my cleaning up is a bunch of unpressed bias binding for mask making. I don't want to get distracted again but I just may have to make another batch of masks to get those gone....

Quilting Vagabond....I was just sort of complaining to my husband how I had to make 80 blocks in assorted colours for this quilt I'm making and then I showed him all the blocks in your picture to which he jokingly said: "Holy cow. So I guess now you can quit your whining!" https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png
That's an incredible job you've done!
Here's what I'm working on this weekend...someone here made this and I really liked it so I ordered the pattern.... I'm also going to continue to sew 5 x2 1/4" strips together the long way as I am making a binding out of it for a batik quilt.
The ladies I normally quilt with on Tuesday mornings are coming over for a "socially distanced" get together in my backyard early next week, so I'd better clean my sewing room as well.

I am so happy to see all the company I have to quilt with this weekend. Also happy to see I'm not the only one working on the same thing as last VQW! I did finish one set of potholders today. Although I increased the stitch, I noticed it was still skipping some. Of course, it does have seven layers. I'm thinking maybe try a size 16 needle. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Tomorrow I'm picking up a quilt that has been long armed and I will get to see a couple friends who are shopping at the same time that I am. So won't be quilting until after lunch.

Rob, I'm always impressed by your thread painting. It's a technique I plan to try one of these days.

Kathy, you work with such tiny pieces! :)

I'm in! did the simple quilting on a lap quilt for niece for Christmas today. Tomorrow I hope to add last border to a Christmas quilt so it's ready for quilting and maybe even start on putting together a Rt 66 embroidery quilt I've had in the works since about 2011.Monday I'm thinking its finally time to get moving on a t-shirt quilt for the local library. Do have to do some pasture mowing at some point when it's not raining.
