I finished all the scrap blocks I had cut so I took out an old UFO to finish off. Its very messy ... But I hope it can be salvaged.

I haven't done much quilting lately as my body of work is almost exclusively donations and they are not being accepted at this time. When this weekend is over, I will have completed 56 masks for donation.

I have the die cutter too and that shape. I should try them again soon.
Thanks for updates on your progress and pictures everyone. I finished my Bonnie Hunter Unity quilt top. I stopped after part 5 and added the borders. It measures 70” by 80” and will be finished by my church group and then donated. Tomorrow, I will see my grandson in person with social distancing. He’s 3.5 months old and I haven’t seen him In person since 5 weeks old. I’m excited. Congratulations on completing this quilt! It is stunning! What an interesting pattern. |
Making tote bags for a Woman’s Shelter & potholders for a place that helps with relocation of women in abuse.
My sewing room downstairs looks like there was a fabric explosion but I’ll have a bundle of each to donate when they begin accepting again. |
I pulled out my Creative Grids ruler to make pineapple blocks. It was very confusing to me at first and then I watched Jenny Doan's tutorial on using the ruler and that helped a lot. I watched the video many, many times!! It takes concentration and a lot of up and down to cut, sew and press but you get a perfect block every time. It will be fun and I am really on a roll now.

Thanks for the updates and pictures everyone, so inspiring. Here is my Briar Rose quilt that I am machine quilting this weekend.

Pretty quilt thimblebug. I sewed the binding on the charity quilt this morning. That flange binding goes on so nicely. I have a couple of little woven baskets sitting on my counter from our last in person guild meeting. I was teaching how to make them, and 2 of the ladies asked me to finish theirs. About time to check that off the to-do list!

Well I got the little top done yesterday in-between chores and happy hubby time. Took my pictures here and then stripped the bed and have the sheets in the wash.
The Daisy Kingdom bunny fabric is dated 1996 but I've only had it in my stash about 2 years, it is directional but I deliberately moved the blocks around so I mixed it up. This is pretty much exactly what I saw in the bundle of scrap yardage when I picked it up. One of the scores I give my tops is "how closely does the top meet my mental image" this gets a 10 out of 10 on that. The shiny light blue was given to me, the rest of the fabric just small bits of stash. Just the 6 pieced blocks, top is roughly 43x56 and will be bound with a narrow binding of the blue. Edit: It is always very challenging for me to use these large scale prints. I know this isn't the first you've seen from me but it is a deliberate "trying to work with large scale" that pushed me on this. I'm much happier with the blenders and calicos in the fan blades than the cute bunnies. One of the other reasons I chose this Lemoyne star was I felt I needed some practice on those set in seams, and I did! I am better now than when I started... |
