I know this is about cooking ... but it explains the difference in starches. Since the grain in the vodka was already processed (cooked), I'm not sure if this would apply.

I also found this ....

So it begs the question ... IF Maryellen uses Vodka in her formula, which KIND of Vodka does she use? Potato or grain?? From what I'm seeing in various places on the web, grain vodka is far more readily available than potato vodka.

You had me curious ... so off I went to learn more.

Potatoes are less so used to make vodka than the grains!
Also can be used are sugar beet molasses and some fruits.

Of course, it's oft been said, drink some wine before starting to FMQ ...
So now the other staple is vodka for pressing? :)

Yes Holice ... the challenge has been tossed out there, and I am anxiously awaiting your results!!
And perhaps the odd Vodka Martini recipe thrown in there too? :)

Who is ready to join Holice in this challenge?? :D:D:D

I have not heard of using Vodka before. Oh well I guess if it does not work you could drink it, LOL

GMTA .... Oh so easy with this new fangled superhighway thing!
(though how often I do forget about its abilities!:D)

Heck, DHMom ... you were just off looking for a legitimate reason to imbibe!
None for you today, for your maiden LA voyage!!!!

Ah, I, too, want the answer ... and the recipe! :)

Me & a Quilt Friend made our own "Farbric Sizer" and we LOVE it!!! We made a gallon of it and it smells sooooo good!!! We made it with Lavendar. It's really up lifting and so far none of the fabrics seem to mind it a bit. We are quite happy with it and it will save us a TON of money that can be used for other things like fabric!! Yeah!!

Interesting topic, I see the bottle of Best Press Starch - The Clear Starch Alternative also says "with Soil Guard and Wrinkle Resister"
I'm right there with you davis2se.. my DH would not be impressed if I started using Vodka to iron with :D
