My reason for making my own would be to get it without the floral stench.
|
One is 24oz distilled water, 3oz vodka, essential oil to smell. Omit if wanting unsented
|
I use Magic Sizing, Light which is scented a little and works great. This was suggested by Beth Ferrier in one of her books I had purchased. It is inexpensive and in grocery stores.

I may be wrong but I thought the vodka was because the alcohol would also keep it from growing bacteria.

There is no starch in vodka or any other alcohol. The starch is consumed by the yeast in the fermentation process.
Best Press does not contain alcohol. |
What a funny topic!
If each of you would take a big gulp of said vodka before posting each time, we could really learn some interesting stuff! Maybe not about ironing and fabric after the first few comments, but still........:D Holice, you never fail to amaze me!:) Jan in VA |
"FaRbric?" You must have been "testing" it as you made it! What is your recipe, please?

Me & a Quilt Friend made our own "Farbric Sizer" and we LOVE it!!! We made a gallon of it and it smells sooooo good!!! We made it with Lavendar. It's really up lifting and so far none of the fabrics seem to mind it a bit. We are quite happy with it and it will save us a TON of money that can be used for other things like fabric!! Yeah!!

The recipe I use is 2 ounces of vodka, 2 cups of water, 8-10 drops of essential oil if you want. It works well for me purposes in quilting. I won't use the potato vodka, because it is more expensive and my SIL is highly allergic to potatoes of any kind.

Jan. I figure that if I am paying 12$$per yd for fabric, then I sure don't want to subject it to cheap vodka. I will save the cheap stuff for the fabric from the big box store.
