I read about mixing vodka and water on QB a while ago and tried it. It worked pretty well and I didn't see any down side to using it. I did not scent it, as I don't want to put any oils onto my fabric. I have used Mary Ellen's at my LQS when taking a class and I didn't see any difference in the way it presses. I really just prefer distilled water in a fine mister, but if adding the vodka makes my seams lay flatter, I'll use it. Of course, I'm of the mind that vodka should be mixed with tonic or orange juice, but that would definitely not work for ironing. :D

This kicks it up to the point where I think I'll have to start using it so my kids WILL find it when I die. LOL. I stopped drinking anything but an occasional glass of wine 5 years ago when chemo changed the taste of nearly everything I ate or drank. Also, because nearly everything alcohol gives me a migraine.

Can you splurge and use one of the flavored vodkas? I'm partial to "wedding cake vodka". Mmmmmm, smells sooo good! And there are tons of other delicious flavored. Btw, i do not make, sell, or endorse any vodka brands, but i do go to the Philadelphia garden show and partake of the tasting! They call it a wine tasting, but there are very few wines. Lol, but the vodka favors are unique and yummy.

Mary Ellen's is way too expensive. I buy the spray starch from the dollar store. Works great.

My favorite is the cinnamon flavored vodka. Mix it with coke zero. Takes me back to when I was a teenager and I worked as a carhop. Cinnamon cokes were a big hit. along with cherry coke, vanilla coke, etc. Boy that sure gives my age away :)

Cinnamon vodka and coke zero, that sounds very promising! I bet you remember fresca and tab, too. Lol!

Amazing info here! So next time I'm pressing with Best Press, maybe I'll give my tongue a little spray, too! By the way, it comes unscented as well as scented, so I don't see why the smell would be a problem.
