My favorite is the cinnamon flavored vodka. Mix it with coke zero. Takes me back to when I was a teenager and I worked as a carhop. Cinnamon cokes were a big hit. along with cherry coke, vanilla coke, etc. Boy that sure gives my age away :)
I love cinnamon .... so am totally curious on that! Have never taken a liking to Vanilla, Cherry or the Lemon/Lime Cokes. Though ... nothing is nicer than fresh squeezed lemon juice added to Coke. |

I read about mixing vodka and water on QB a while ago and tried it. It worked pretty well and I didn't see any down side to using it. I did not scent it, as I don't want to put any oils onto my fabric. I have used Mary Ellen's at my LQS when taking a class and I didn't see any difference in the way it presses. I really just prefer distilled water in a fine mister, but if adding the vodka makes my seams lay flatter, I'll use it. Of course, I'm of the mind that vodka should be mixed with tonic or orange juice, but that would definitely not work for ironing. :D
Gotta love the posts in this thread....drink up girls, the fabric is waiting! Anita |
You guys are too funny!

Well another reason to buy Vodka. I don't drink but make my own vanilla with vodka and Vanilla beans. Now I can really look like I have a problem going in for 2 liters at a time.

Pinterest is full of alternate uses for vinegar. Maybe you should start finding all the alternate uses for vodka.

My reason for making my own would be to get it without the floral stench.

Stiff drink for stiff fabric. Is that the idea? LOL

You should have seen the look on DH's face when he saw me pull a bottle of cheap Vodka from the grocery sack. He knows that I hate Vodka with a passion and was getting worried. Then he saw me mix my starch alternative and he was relieved. I use it all the time - added a few drops of lavender oil and it works like a charm. Now I'll have to go read the bottle.

My sewing group has been using vodka/water mix for several years. We don't go anyplace without our vodka spray bottle. We mix 4 parts water to 1 part vodka (cheapest vodka you can get). We don't use it as a starch, but to press our seams (makes crisp seams) or spray the fabric if there is a stubborn crease - irons right out. Of course, the better vodka goes into something else. :)
