I’m a late entrant to this thread - I have been on the Quilting Board on and off over the years as I have had more or less time and interest in quilting. I’m back at it now, and this weekend is the weekend I finish a scrap quilt I’m making entirely out of fabric and batting I have on hand. It’s going to be a quillow to keep in the car. I got the actual quilting done yesterday evening. I used a high loft poly batting someone gave me, and now I remember why I never use this type. The backing has a lot of puckering, but I’m going ahead anyway. This is very much a utility quilt. Hopefully I get it bound today, and tomorrow I’m off work so I hope to get the pillow part finished and a label made/sewn on. Then I can cut out fabrics for a quilt for my first grandbaby, due in December, but the deadline for that quilt is mid-November, for the shower.

I got the second throw sized top quilted. This one was also put together by a member of our guild. It was great to longarm two days in a row. I used a new pantograph called Tiramisu and I really like it. It has great coverage. I also got some hexi hot pads sewn together. I now have 8 ready to layer and quilt. I think I'll throw them on the longarm too--just 'cause I can!! :D

Thimblebug6000-I printed off the pumpkingpatchbc.com applique patterns but haven't started them yet. It looked so fun.

Lena1952--I hope the storm doesn't do too much damage

It has been a good weekend here. The weather has been gorgeous lately. Friday I spent catching up on some household chores. We lost our 19 year old cat ten days ago and it kind of threw us. Yesterday we went to a local Antique Tractor Show. But I managed to squeeze some quilting time anyway. I have two children's quilts completely done and sewed blocks into rows for another quilt. And laid out one on the design wall. Mom and one of my sisters will be here Saturday for a few days so I will hopefully be getting the sewing room better organized and cleaned up before they get here!

I really enjoyed seeing what everyone was working on this weekend. Lots of productivity :)

I got home from church and a potluck and fell directly into nap mode. No sewing, no walking and not much of anything else. A true day of rest and perhaps what I needed more than to finish the table runner and assemble the quilt top. "Tomorrow will be another day" to quote my old gal pal, Scarlett O'Hara Butler.

I got some more blocks Sewn. The bobbin was
running low so I kept an eye on it. Then I was sewing without top thread 😵. Time to quit for the night.

Forgot to mention that once I pulled out the manual for the threading directions (it was a good thing, I would have been close but not quite right) and put in a fresh needle and a fresh cone of thread on top, checked the bobbin (half...) filled some more bobbins, and it was a glorious session of sewing once I sat down. And it is there calling to me now, I think today will be a productive Monday.

I am still getting used to this machine, some things I love and some things I'm ok with. But one thing I know, it is nice to have thread when you are sewing!!

Thanks for the well wishes with the storm. Turns out is was nothing for us inlanders. The beaches may have been hit pretty hard with beach erosion. On the flip side the storm did motivate us to winterize the porch and yard.

I spent a rainy day working on my x stitch project and jumped out for a short while to do some machine sewing. I really should have been doing some actual quilting but my head wasn’t in it so that will be for another day.

Funny how those machines sew much better when they have thread. LOL. Glad you are back up and running again Iceblossom.

Oh Heather, my condolences on your cat. That was a long life you had together. But what wonderful care and consideration you gave the cat through its life and the moving and all.

It has been about 3 years since my last cat, Tomas, passed on New Year's Day the year we moved. I expect the right cat and I to connect at any moment. This is the longest I've been without a cat in my entire life. My little dogs are great, but there is a different energy with a cat...

Good progress, everyone!
I have a lap tray full of pinned sections to create the pixel blocks in various stages of complete! Lots of stitching today.
