Boy, I hope this is true ! I'll ask the next time I go into Walmart.

we had this topic going already and it is now "locked"...not sure why..

BUT you need to know that not ALL WM's will be bringing back fabric...it must have been making money on the fabric and be in a rural area...that is what the Corporate man told me on the phone 3 weeks ago!
Our WM will be one to NOT get it back because even though our Fabric dept. made money, we are not a rural area..go figure...

So good to know that Walmart's realizes that quilters are shoppers that put a lot of time and money into their craft.

I sure hope it is all of them. I know that WalMart used to get a lot of money from me but since they stopped selling fabric I hardly go in there at all.

Wal-mart has always carried fabrics here in this Idaho store. They did cut down on how much fabric they carried because that department is smaller. I just wish they carried a little better quality as some of those cotton fabrics are so thin.

silly girl....ALL fabric is made over seas, mostly in Asian countries...

there has been NO fabric made in the USA for about 5 years now! Our mills are all closed down and turned into office buildings and mini malls!

NO, only stores in what they consider RURAl areas, with less than 10K residents and with NO other fabric available in the area...some stores will still lose their fabric if they do not meet the new corporate standards.

We were told 3 weeks that our area is not considered rural even though we supply all the goods for many surrounding rural towns..so we will NOT be getting fabric back...

we also lost our Hancock fabrics at the same year WM pulled theirs...that leaves us with a hobby lobby that does not carry much fabric at all....for nearly 150K people!

It's about time.

bad fabric is bad fabric does not matter WHAT store is selling it..you have to KNOW your fabric lines and know the quality and really look at it to determine if it is good or not.

VIP cranston USED to be really good in the 80's..then they sold a lot of their lines to WM to produce and it really went downhill....

Just because Joanns and/or Hancocks sells it, does not make it any better or worse than Walmart having it...

I used to be a buyer for one of those companies and worked in management at another...I know the lines well and I know what to expect in quality...both have changed drastically over the last 10 years and not always for the better.

When Wm decided to STOP selling fabric..where do you suppose those fabric makers sold the fabric....to Hancock's and Joanns...after all, the fabric was made and in wharehouses..so it had to be sold somewhere...... :lol:
