I have bought and sold several things on Craigslist and have not had any problems. As long as you are careful and check it out, you should be okay.
I had several emails from scammers who wanted to "buy and pay extra, etc,", but they are easy to spot. Their language is lacking and they all say the same thing. When I sold my laptop (and I did sell it on craigslist) I had four of these letters from four different guys. After the first one, I just trashed them. |

Always trust your gut feeling! Dont do it! And who would give you $50 extra just to hold it, I would walk away from it.

I heard about it from Ebay users in my lg. pattern glass grp. I want to use Craig's List this summer to list a huge collection of my Moon & Star pattern glass but will pay close attention. I can't get serious about selling my home til I get rid of this huge collection. It's become a huge burden. If I'm not careful, my quilts will do the same thing. LOL Pat G |
My husband buys and sells on Craigs list, always cash. He doesn't give our home address, sets up the cash sale by phone. He arranges a neutral meeting place with a witness, then sees the cash and takes the buyer to our farm where the item is stored. When he is buying, he offers cash, brings a friend and agrees to meet wherever the seller wants. No checks, no money orders, no third party pickups. Sold firewood, compost, bought several antique cars this way.

I have never opened craig's list, but have hear a lot about it and I do not like anything I have heard. Please don't send that cuckoo any info about yourself. Who knows, could accidently be legit. but I doubt it, also if you have a strange feeling about it, remove the post and be sure that there is no info about yourself or your friend left behind. Please be careful !!! I have never been on twitter or facebook either. This site is the closest thing to open internet I have ever used. I really enjoy this site and feel comfortable using it. Please be careful!! Mama Gerbie talking!!

Hi yes this just happened to me- same name Solly Blessing!
I had a piano listed on Craigslist for 400.00 OBO and he right away offered $450.00 sight unseen and said he'd send a check b/c he was out of the country due to a "lost" in his family!! the check arrived today for 3,000.00 and I am supposed to send the difference to his "shipper" in Rhode Island who will pick it up. (I am in New Mexico!) Said to add another $100.00 for my trouble. the check arrived this morning and is on flimsy paper and the signature is "Patti." I called the bank and sent a scanned image to them. beware Solly Blessing and offers that are too good to be true! who buys an old piano sight unseen!!! |
You do have to be carefull. My bank has Two bad check, and do I mean bad. The look like the real thing. If anyone is mentions going out of the country,BEWARE its a scam.
