Absolutely! My husband and I believe 'if it sounds too good to be true - it is too good to be true'.

It doesn't sound real kosher, but you could give him minimal info and see if he responds. Remember, most of our info is out there in cyberland. Creepy, but it is. Just be careful and I know you know not to meet anyone without someone with you. And if you ever feel uncomfortable giving out your information or meeting up, then don't do it. It's as simple as that. Your gut knows. And if your gut is wrong, so what?! You're safe and that's all that matters.

SCAAAAAAAAAM!

It's a scam! SCAM!

Just say, here's the PO Box # and you will hold the machines for X amount of time, at which point they will be relisted. If he sends a check for "more than the amount" tell him sorry, but they're relisted...why? Because it's a SCAAAAAAAM!

And then just laugh, because you're too smart for him. ;)

We had a very similar reply when we posted TRACTOR tires for sale. The email said he would send their shipper to pick them up, the price was fine, now give me your full name, address, and phone number, and they would have a cashiers check in the mail. I replied that my husband was a "cash only type guy" and it was a first come, first serve. And that was the end of that. Their return address of their first inquiry was RARMOND WELLS. Their second reply had a return email address of SOLLY BLESSING. Fat chance that this was legit. Scammers!

I'd run and keep running! Do not give any info out to him at all.

Barbm 05-10-2010 05:11 PM

yes, definitely a scam. can you flag him to craigslist?

Gramof6 05-10-2010 05:50 PM

Do NOT gove him your personal info!!! This just stinks from the get go. Sorry.

We have friends who almost fell for a similar scam, for a rental house. They went so far as to get a check for a deposit, but they checked with the issuing bank, etc. They'll want you to hold the check, but give them a MO or some such thing. Then you're out the money cause the check is no good. SCAM!!!

This does sound like a scam. I work for a financial instituation and you would not belive how many fake money orders and cashiers checks we get back. Be very careful when selling anything online.

I worked at a bank and there are a lot of money order scams. I haven't seen this particular one, but it resembles them, generally. I would be VERY wary.
