What’s on your Christmas List?

I always enjoy seeing what everyone else wants in case I learn of some new fancy schmancy quilting gizmo that I must have.

My Christmas gift to myself was a snow blower, totally not quilting related, but it will make snow removal much faster!

LogCabin82 12-06-2021 01:48 PM

I'd like a cutting table and a rotating cutting mat. :)

............... and let you get out the door and away to buy more quilt fabric!!!!! :)

Karamarie 12-06-2021 02:05 PM

I sometimes ask for a gift card from JoAnn Fabrics or a nearby quilt shop.

Tartan 12-06-2021 02:16 PM

I really don’t need anything for Christmas sewing related. The only fabric I had to have this year was the Nirthcoat toilet paper roll fabric . I couldn’t resist commemorating the great toilet paper shortage of the pandemic. My machine is in getting a check up and I will have it back hopefully this weekend. Some new Aurifil neutral coloured sewing thread would be nice though.

SusieQOH 12-06-2021 02:44 PM

I want the book The Lyrics about the Beatles music. That's all I really want! Everything else would be gravy :)

Onebyone 12-06-2021 04:37 PM

I can't think of anything quilting to ask for. My husband always gives me a generous gift certificate to the local LQS. I bought an Apple watch for myself a couple weeks ago and a new laptop and a new Kindle Fire. I indulged.

I wanted a Martha Washington Sewing Cabinet. Looked all through Craig’s List, local sales and etc. Found lots of them. Painted, green and white with flowers, painted black, some with holes that looked like they might have been for locks. Found some that looked like they were stripped and repainted an oak color. Found the one. The one I fell in love with. Great price. It needed to be shipped halfway across the country. Well, it came, perfect condition. Love it. That’s about all I want. Except I want to go to a retreat in February.

Watson 12-06-2021 05:38 PM

My husband and I booked a trip to Mexico in January for our gift, but it's looking like it's not going to happen. I guess we will know in the next couple of weeks as more info comes out about this variant. I really don't want to get stuck isolating in Mexico for 2 weeks.

Tallchick...we once bought a snowblower a week before Christmas and had the poor saleslady convinced that that was what my husband was getting me for Christmas. She couldn't keep the horrified look off of her face. We took pity on her at the end and told her we were just kidding.

I really don't want anything. When I want something I buy it no matter the time of year.

Anniedeb 12-06-2021 06:32 PM

I have to come up with something new that I want for Christmas. All year long I have said that the only thing I want for Christmas is for my DH to get hearing aids. He is very stubborn, and will only do things on his own timeline. Over the last several months our sons have been gently telling him to get hearing aids. Even our 15 year old grandson, who has worn hearing aids since he was 3, has been after him. Third week in November he decided it was time. He has them now, and though not perfect, things are a lot better. He's going through quite an adjustment period, but things are looking up! Now to decide....what do I want??

Rhonda K 12-06-2021 06:46 PM

Not sewing related but DH ordered a new red truck for me. It won’t be here by Christmas but I’ll wait patiently. I’m a truck girl.

Krisb 12-06-2021 06:58 PM

Yes, me too. Being single has its advantages. (Disadvantages, too, like when there's a mouse in the house!)

rjwilder 12-07-2021 04:36 AM

I don't need or want anything. Hubby and I buy the things we need and want throughout the year.

lindaschipper 12-07-2021 04:45 AM

Usually Christmas is just my husband and myself as all the kids live in diffeent states and have their own family Christmas. I did tell my kids that IF they were going to get me something to check cross stitch sites for Prairie Schooler Santa Claus patterns and send me one booklet each. Teased my husband that diamonds and precious jewels come from South Africa and there may be a shortage of them with the new Covid variance being out there...of course I was joking about diamonds. I'd settle for 3 or 4 20lb bags of bird seed so I can watch my feathered friends this winter. I have enough quilting items to last 10 years!

Sandra-P 12-07-2021 07:10 AM

We just found out that hubby has 2 extra paid for days off for the holiday. Will probably drive up to St Augustine and spend the night. Last time we walked up the lighthouse stairs and this time will not be doing that, lol, so will go to the Fort there and explore. We love a restaurant up there, where they have the best black beans and rice. Hey, I will have to buy some new clothes for the trip. Well that's my Christmas gifts.

sewingpup 12-07-2021 07:12 AM

ummm...cookies!

juliasb 12-07-2021 12:11 PM

On my Christmas list was a Go Big! from Accuquilt. I got it already and the box is wrapped and under the tree. I also would love to have some new dies and am hopeful.

GingerK 12-07-2021 01:06 PM

I told DH that I would love if he arranged (and paid for, of course) a service on my treadmill. I use it at least 5 days a week and it has become increasingly noisy over the last year. He was thrilled that a: he didn't have to think of something on his own, and b: he didn't have to go shopping.

Quilty-ish: I dropped my bobbin storage case once too often so put that (well, actually 3 so that each machine can have its own) on the family list. If a GC happens to appear, that would be nice.

Peckish 12-07-2021 02:10 PM

Uninterrupted time by myself in my quilting room.

My youngest moved out a week before Thanksgiving, 2 weeks before his birthday, 5 weeks before Christmas. I was not prepared AT ALL to consider the holidays without him at home, and the ferocity of my sadness has knocked me completely sideways. I just want to be by myself to cry and process.

Attachment 636722 can you guess what this might be?

Attachment 636723 I have been wanting a bigger mat for years. I have always had a 18x24".

DH and I are in the stage of our lives where we buy what we want for our hobbies when we want them. This was on sale for a great price, so thought it was time to finally get one.

copycat 12-08-2021 02:38 AM

I love reading Quilting Stories, so any quilting related fiction books would be lovely.

Sorry to hear that, Peckish. Hope he gets nostalgic for home for the holidays. I remember when my son moved out in a huff and how sad I felt - but relieved at the same time. He was 19 and very upsetting. May you find some peace at this time. Quilting is good therapy.

Gemm 12-08-2021 09:55 AM

I just changed my rotary cutter blade for the first time in ages (they were hard to come by during the early months of the pandemic and then I just forgot). I forgot how easy cutting could be! I have now added spare blades to my Christmas wish list. :-) My needs and wants are few - along with the blades, you can find chocolate, coffee, and a couple of books on there.

Doggramma 12-08-2021 10:43 AM

I’d like a rotating cutting mat. I saw Tula Pink using a really nice one that I think she said was Sue Daly’s.

Onebyone 12-08-2021 10:51 AM

The best rotating mat and I have used every brand there is out there, is the Roundabout from Martelli. I took mine to a retreat and left it on the cutting table for everyone to use. All raved about it and many ordered it using their phones on the spot.

Susie, I bought the book All The Songs, about all of the Beach Boys music. I was dying to know who sang which parts, played which instruments, etc. So much great background info in there! I splurged and bought it for myself several months ago.

As for Christmas gifts, there isn't anything I really want. I bought a couple of things for myself on Black Friday and Cyber Monday... some Bombas socks and some Accuquilt dies. That's my Christmas!

What I really would like for Christmas would be for my daughter and SIL to get over being mad at me and let me see and spend time with my granddaughter. She's been weaponized, unfortunately. Makes me sad as I can be.

Peckish, I'm so sorry. I know how that feels. You are in my prayers. Hope he is still close enough to visit.

sewbizgirl 12-08-2021 03:19 PM

sewingitalltogether, I LOVE the Martha Washington cabinet! What a treasure to find.

RedGarnet222 12-09-2021 09:55 AM

Hubby got a bee in his bonnet this year and bought me a new bernina crystal edition 790e and a laptop. I couldn't believe what all came with it. Five huge boxes of goodies. So much fun to unpack it all. I am flabbergasted. Now I just want some sweat sets and cozy socks to sew in.
I have all my wrapping finished, the decorating done and went to a christmas gala for hubby's charity event, The diabetes chapter for children. I haven't dressed up formal in years. That was fun. A fairytale christmas already. I would love to hear Mesiah at the local university, but, that is not going to happen. Maybe I will find a recording to order of it on-line.

Parents who use children to get back at family members are loathsome. It's not fair to the child and I think a horrible kind of mental abuse. Seems you SIL would have the decency to speak up about this but he is either scared of his wife or just as hateful as her. I can only imagine what the child is learning from all this. I know it hurts you to the core.

Ohhh I need that book too! Thanks for telling me about it. I've been reading a lot of rock memoirs the last few years and I read the one by Mike Love, also Brian Wilson penned one called I Am Brian Wilson. That one was good/sad.

Really sorry about your situation and hope it improves. Thanks again for the heads up on the book.

tranum 12-09-2021 07:37 PM

I never thought I’d have to put this on a wish list but all I want is for our grandson’s crazy wife to back off and let their 2 adorable children see their Grandparents (our daughter & our son in law). It’s their only grandchildren and they love them so much. Grandson & the crazy one don’t talk to us either but so be it, just let our DD and SIL see them. It’s so sad and if it got resolved today, they’d never gain those days back. Narcissistic people are impossible.

sewbizgirl 12-09-2021 10:09 PM

Seems there is more than enough sorrow going around... hope the situations improve for all of us. Thank you all for your commiseration!

In a way it does relate to quilting. You can get out of the driveway to get to the fabric shop!

bakermom 12-10-2021 06:06 AM

Really dont need anything. When my kids ask i tell them all i want is a dinner together. They make it happen.

farmquilter 12-10-2021 08:14 AM

I do not need anything quilting so I have added to my B&D tools. I now have a pole-saw and a 12" chain saw for the farm trimming. They have joined the drill, saws-all, weed trimmer and circular saw. I think I am all set to get things done.
I am trying to use up my stash and make things for charity.

lindaschipper 12-11-2021 05:07 AM

Well, my FOOD SAVER machine up and blew a gasket or something, so while I was out grocery shopping I bought another one at Walmart. Then husband sent a text that he ordered one online. Asked him to please cancel it, told him all I wanted was a couple large bags of wild bird seed for my 5 feeders. Later that evening while watching the TV there was a commercial for an Airfryer,, before I could say anything he said he ordered me one for Christmas. Still not sure if I really wanted one or not. He did go out yesterday and get me 3 large bags of birdseed. So, I'm feeding the birds for a couple of months!
