I have made quilts and some nightgowns for my granddaughter and the Halloween costumes for her and her brothers. So all the grandchildren think Grandma can just "whip it up and it will be great" for anything they can conjure up. And they do think everything is great, regardless.

When, in the early years of my quilting I entered a Boston Commons quilt in the County Fair and when I went at the end of the week to pick it up it had two blue ribbon and one big purple ribbon on it.
It had won a blue for Best Machine Piecing, a blue for Best Hand Quilting, and Best of Show.

One Christmas I made a college themed quilt for my son and put t-shirts from his college days on the back. He was so proud of it that he took it with him in the middle of summer to Massachusetts for the christening of his god-daughter. Her father was his college roommate and he wanted to show it off to him. He called me late at night to tell me how much everyone liked it.

Hubby and I have been married for 24 years this June. Yesterday was his birthday and he came up to me and said, " I love you more now than I did when we married, and I want you as much today as I did back then."

My almost 9 year old granddaughter recently telling me that I "inspire her" and teach her things no one else does, not her parents and not her teachers and that she knows she will do well in life as an adult because of my inspiration.

That melted my heart when she told me that.
