I have an office chair with lumbar support, however since one does not lean back while sewing I'm not sure how important the lumbar support is in this instance.

Although, I probably unconsciencely lean back and it helps.

What kind of wire back chair thing? I'm having an awful time with my back... would really appreciate the information.... thanks from me and my back. =)

Same plus one of those wire back things I bought at a quilt show. It really helps my back.

I bought on of those back supports and it has been heaven sent. I use a rolling office chair with lumbar suppot and no arms but that back support I bought at the quilt show is GREAT!

I have a computer gaming chair it is very comfy. Has arms adjustments and you get the picture.

Same for me.

Me, too!! My husband has a super-padded one downstairs and I tried it - - too comfy for me - - happy with my office chair and it is easy to move. Might get a second one though to minimize rolling this one around so much!

Are you leaning forward to see what you're working on, or what? If it's a sight issue, you can put a couple of door stops behind your machine to lift the back up so you can better see what you're doing. Much better for those of us with bi/tri-focals. You might also try moving the machine closer to you if possible. Just a few thoughts.

Oh, and are you sitting up high enough on the chair to best see your work? If not, try that. It raising your chair makes your feet dangle, then put an appropriate sized box under your feet. Our bodies need to be at 90° angles at our arms, hips and knees. What's your angle? LOL

Hope this helps, :D

I have a very nice Horn sewing chair. Pricey but worth it. I have 2 machines/cabinets and I am very tempted to get another chair for the other cabinet so I don't have to keep rolling it from one side of the room to the other. I love it!

I agree - that is what I have and it allows me to go between my sewing machine and my quilting machine.

I have a good office chair on wheels that has height/seat tilt/seat back adjustments as well as arms that can be removed or adjusted for height.

At first, I took the arms off but later learned from my physical therapist the importance of having support for my forearms. This gives a lot of support for my hands and takes the stress off my elbows, shoulders, back and neck and has really made a huge difference in my pain level and how long I can sew comfortably.
