Interestingly babies see images mostly in black and white when they are newborn.
I have made a number of black and white baby quilts and they look wonderful.

Red/blue/yellow/green + theme or character quilts are nice. Dinosaurs for a boy, butterflies for a girl or cats & dogs or birds & fish. There are so many possibilities! Have fun!

I would do either black and white or something bold like red. I have never known anyone who knew the gender of their baby before it was born, so I always have to make gender neutral baby quilts. In my experience, new parents love the bold colours. In fact, my avatar is my 1 year old daughter's baby quilt.

My daughter has twins, one boy and one girl. I made one quit blue and white and very feminine print floral print with hits of green leaves for my little girl twin. The second quilt for the boy was green, yellow and white and less floral. The thought was they would likely end up interchanging the quilts any way.

The babies did not care and my daughter was just glad to have two quilts that were not pink or blue, boy and girl. And now....I get to make another quilt because a baby brother or sister will arrive in November. The challenge is we know there is only one baby this time, but not if it is a boy or girl. To wait until the arrival or to just choose a wonderful set of softer colors that any child would like, now that is my question.

To answer your question - turquoise or teal.

If I ever have the opportunity to make baby quilts for twins, my plan is to make 2 log cabin quilts in primary and secondary colors, using Kona solids, binding one in red and the other in purple. I may have to add turquoise too.

I'd go with yellow, too!

I vote for brights also.

I love primary colors, you can't go wrong! How about all the same colors, just different amounts of the colors. Does that make sense? Like, one with lots of reds, and one with lots of greens. Thats what I would do.

I would do multi-colored ones ( scrappy ), purple, green, orange, yellow, all good uni-sex colors...
