I got to go to Nancy's Notions in Beaver Dam, WI!!! It was awesome!!! I didn't get to stay long but I did spend a little $. At least I can say that I have been there!!!

mamaw 03-07-2011 09:10 AM

I cleaned house after the grandson left. Including washing all the floors. A good job done, now can relax a little. I ignore housework when one of the grandchildren are visiting. He was here for 2 weeks, the first being school vacation; and the 2nd because his parents couldn't work it out to get him back to VT. and his school only had 3 days last week, so mom wasn't worried about what he missed.

clem55 03-07-2011 09:10 AM

I worked and slept, didn't have a chance to get in my sewing room at all.

Quilter7x 03-07-2011 09:40 AM

I took a clothes line basket class on Saturday - what fun they are to make! And yesterday I didn't do too much, just made two more Day and Night blocks, but otherwise recovered from a fast paced Friday night into Saturday basket workshop.

BMP 03-07-2011 09:41 AM

I painted my bedroom and put it back together, then worked on my tumbler quilt which is now 1/2 done!!
On my way out now that roads have been cleared to get paint for the bathroom.

Saturday I made a soccer ball cake for my 17 year-old DGSs birthday; cleaned up the kitchen which seemed to take HOURS. Sunday I worked on the pinwheel project quilt, and a friend came over with clothes for me to alter for her.

QuiltnCowgirl 03-07-2011 09:48 AM

I worked from home all day Saturday. By Sat evening I needed a break so told DH I needed some "me" time and disappeared into my sewing room. Reappeared a few hours later with an almost finished doll quilt for my Feb swap partner. Sat & hand sewed the binding while watching TV. Sunday DH & I went to breakfast, did some shopping & then spent the rest of the day being lazy and watching Netflix movies together.

raedar63 03-07-2011 10:44 AM

Tried to teach my sister to sew......

nycquilter 03-07-2011 10:50 AM

I made 396 HST, unfinished to 4". Then, I started to sew them together into 99 pinwheel blocks. 11 colors used in total. I completed all the HST, ironed, cut apart, ironed open, trimmed to 4". Still have some to go, about 108, I think. then, I switched projects and chose fabric for an alphabet baby quilt. I am foundation piecing the letters, got 6 done. Also, cooked dinner for several nights this week, played with the dogs, and slept.

cmw0829 03-07-2011 11:01 AM

I took a sewing machine demo class on Sat, then drove the kid back to college (2 hrs each way). Sunday was the day I was going to FINALLY make those curtains, but I lost all of my drawings and measurements and didn't have the energy to do them again. Instead, I installed my old software for my Viking 1+ and played with the embroidery.

OneMoreQuilt 03-07-2011 11:13 AM

Friday evening we drove to O'Hare Airport and picked up our visitor from Australia. Late night I finished a quilt for my soon to be DIL. Saturday morning I picked my DD and DGS up at the train station. That evening we went to the wedding shower and gave the quilt (and other gifts) to my new DIL. Sunday we had a big breakfast (I cooked) and in the afternoon I actually got to play my Quiltopoly game with this group!!! Today, took my DD and our Australian visitor to Chicago for the conference they are attending.......whew! Best part...I get to keep my grandson all week!

Raggiemom 03-07-2011 11:14 AM

Well, I was going to finish a quilt but ended up ripping out stitiches because I caught the back and wrinkled it! Will hopefully finish it this week.

MadQuilter 03-07-2011 11:38 AM

I got to meet with Sugarpumpkin and her DH on Saturday which was loads of fun.

Yesterday, I decided on a pattern for the round robin AND I have all the fabric in my stash.

barbsmith 03-07-2011 11:51 AM

On Saturday my DH and I helped a young couple from our church move into a new home. Sunday we went to church then had family over for dinner. Then I sat in my recliner and napped.

sewmuchmore 03-07-2011 12:06 PM

I work every weekend

sallyinfla 03-07-2011 12:10 PM

I was lucky to have time to make 2 quick tote bags!!!

Shelbie 03-07-2011 12:45 PM

I took a quilt as you go workshop and am using a whole pile of orphan blocks that have been sitting in a bin just waiting for something like this. I also did a little shopping at my LQ"S 40% off sale buying some tone on tone black and red that I need for my Oriental quilt. I then bound and labeled a baby quilt for a new little guy and also made him some bibs. After church I had to drive DD back to college and help (actually do) DH pack for his convention in Ottawa this week. I think it was a busy week-end.

SaraSewing 03-07-2011 12:49 PM

I was finally able to concentrate long enough to sew. I finished setting together a quilt for my 6 year old granddaughter (photos later!), and made a few crumb blocks. I've had difficulty concentrating, sleeping, and just plain living. My mother passed away just one week ago, and I've had a hard time shifting gears back to "normal life". She lived with us (age 88), and had a stroke that required me to sit with her 24-7 for her last week. It was a beautiful peaceful death, and I' know she's in a wonderful place. But gosh, I'm lost.

toomanycats 03-07-2011 07:45 PM

Be thankful you had time with her and she had a peaceful ending so take your comfort in that. You will slowly find your balance and continue on. Thoughts and prayers to you at this difficult time. Use your sewing as threrapy and maybe make something in rememberance of her.

hperttula123 03-07-2011 08:01 PM

That is great!! I got to fill my new sewing room up and made three purses and altered some curtains for my neighbor.

tjradj 03-07-2011 08:49 PM

Friday, I made a windbreaker jacket out of nylon fabric and a hoodie sweatshirt. However, I miscalculated the 2XL !!!!!! and since 2XL!!!!! is always big on me, I didn't try it on. Murphy's Law bit me in the butt, as the shirt was mislabeled and couldn't have been bigger than a L if that. SO, it didn't fit me by a long shot. But I figured it would fit my mom.
Saturday, I stayed in my pj's and did sweet dik all.
Sunday I went to my parents' house to help Mom celebrate her 75 th birthday, and their 55 th wedding anniversary. The sibs got together and got them a new (big) flat screen tv. I also gave Mom the jacket. It fits her like it was made for her. And she loved it.
Today, Mom called to say she wore the jacket everywhere today, and all her friends loved it too.
Today I went to my quilt club and we did a "cancer sew" day and made 200 pads for patients.(don't ask)
Tonight, I finished off a quilt for a friend and called her to say it was ready. *She only asked last weekend.
After she picked her jaw up off the floor, I explained that I had this one languishing in the closet and she "saved" it from infinite UFO'dom.
And I cooked dinner.
Not bad eh?

I took out a UFO that I started 5-6yrs ago. It is a bargello jacket. I had all the pieces sewn together and just had to cut my strips and make the bargello pieces for the jacket pieces. It has turned out to be quite the endeavor. But with perservence, I now have both sleeves and the 2 front pieces done and only have the back left to do. That is today's project.

supergma 03-08-2011 04:38 AM

Finished hand quilting a quilt for GGson's birthday, went to church, cooked a big pot of chili, loafed a lot. Oh yes. Can't forget my most hated job. Grocery shopping!

dilyn 03-08-2011 04:44 AM

My sister came to spend the weekend and we both did some projects that needed another opinion. We have very different quilting styles but when we share a project it always gets better. I guess the addage that 2 heads are better than one is true!

Homespun 03-08-2011 04:46 AM

I went to a class on Saturday to make a Dancing Stars quilt. Worked on it Sunday and Monday--have 4 long rows now. Will post pics when done.

I finally, after months of trying to figure out how I was going to unpack all my fabric from the move last spring, started doing just that. I unpacked one large box that had been sitting in the corner of my room since last spring, then cleaned out an old wicker storage chest, repacked many of the UFO's into it(while making a detailed list of what is in there, so I don't have to dig through looking for something), then moved in a large plastic storage drawer thingy that is full of my scrapes. Then I got inspired to make more room by ironing all my scrapes, sorting them by size and am planning to repack them more neatly into those drawers. Sounds nutty, I know, but I have several more boxes full of fabric waiting to be unpacked, so I want to make as much room as possible. When my sewing room completes it's remodel, I will have shelving 8 1/2 ft high by 19 ft long.....floor to ceiling, wall to wall shelves. In the meantime, I am just trying to "survive" without all my fabric unpacked.

But finding all those UFO's will help me to reach my goal of completing them BEFORE I start another new quilt (my New Year's Resolution this yr!!) Oh my, this is really torture!!!

I am the weekend manager at a group home for developmentally disabled adults so I worked all weekend. Go in on Friday morn and come home Sunday pm. BUT I have a great big bedroom with a sewing area set up. So when I am not working, there I am.But they know where to find me (darn it LOL). My ladies are learning to sew. We got them little machines and they just completed tote bags. So my weekends are actually everyone else weekdays. Go figure

Lena1952 03-08-2011 05:21 AM

Helped hubby change the back tires on the tractor. Those boys are heavy!! Later that night did a little knitting, then off to bed.

I sewed some flannel sheets to fit a cradle I'm giving to my nephew for his new baby about to be born. I've already given them the quilts I made - all flannel backed fleece. They loved them. I also made burp cloths and changing pads for the changing table.

Then I cleaned the laundry room since we took out the old dryer which gave up the ghost on us - so new one got delivered yesterday! What a nice dryer; love it.

Rumbols 03-08-2011 05:36 AM

I worked Friday night till midnight. Then I worked on BOM blocks to catch up with this year's blocks.

steelecg 03-08-2011 05:54 AM

I returned from my cruise with Quilt Among Friends. I haven't finished the project, but I learned 3 ways to applique and will have a wallhanging based on the Rose of Sharon book. Great fun - They are going to Alaska next year.

DH and I went to the quilt show inBloomington, Indiana with another couple. DH and guy friend went to sporting goods and gun shop while female friend and I went to quilt show. Bought some half yard cuts for $2.99 each and a Bali pops 2 1/2" strip set and a 2 yd. X 108" cut of green batik for the backing of a batik d9p I'm working on. Had lunch at a great Brumese restaurant. I will never have a quilt in a show!! Those quilts are truly works of art.

Saturday I worked on this month's assignment on my Michael Miller Clubhouse quilt. Cut and got it sewed in one day. Much
better than last month when we were learning to do flying geese units and to fussy cut. Sunday afternoon we worked on the bonus project which is a small throw called "Chain Reaction
Quilt" Mine is now all cut out and I've made a few blocks. My
friend works faster than me and has completed more of hers.
I hope to finish it over Spring break.

Helped a friend with her first ever dressage show, She is trying to qualify for the Para Olympic team and rode the third level team
test after only riding dressage for a few weeks, and on a brand new, to her, horse to boot. I was so proud of her - she and her horse did a great job.

I sew as a business during the week and try to sew for pleasure on the weekends. Saturday morning I started working on my crazy scrappy quilts. This gets to be like a sickness when I take all that stuff out. I worked on it most of Saturday until about 5 pm, went out dancing with my DH and then started in again on Sunday morning till after lunch. Started on it again yesterday morning, but had to put it away and get back to the real world. Next weekend.....
