if the hospital doesn't ask them if there is like a McDonald's house that parents use when the little ones are in the hospital and then you could offer them to the parents.

I love the gypsy wife pattern and am going to take it to our queen bee's that do charity quilts. It is a perfect way to handle scraps and orphan blocks.

And calling your drawer the orphanage is just precious. I got a laugh out of that.

My LQS uses them in making hospice pillow covers. We make them a specific size that fits over a pillow form that hospice supplies. When we have a stack of them we turn them into our guild committee. A friend just adds fabric to the top and sides of just one block, to fit the size requirement.

I made an orphan block quilt out of them using QAYG technique for joining them. Here are pics. I tilted them. (I made this n 2012).

It was given away in a flash (our own charity here in Poland). Someone chose it. I think they loved the back, actually.

I made a sofa cover with different size blocks, and it looks really good on the back of our family room devan. Used sashing between the blocks. Got a Blue Ribbon at the fair, and have received a lot of compliments!

I use them down the middle of a backing that is too narrow for a quilt. Sometimes I cut the bigger ones down to match the others.

I bartered a big stack to a member here for scraps, win win for both of us I think, I thought her intended use was way fun. A game/challenge at guild at identifying blocks. My orphanage is now closed and I'm happy.

I attach them to a very basic fabric and make tote bags. I use these as gift bags and it is often cheaper than wrapping paper. By attaching them to a basic fabric you do not have to make a lining for the bag. I make fabric straps that are just long enough that they could be carried over the shoulder. This way they are perfect for carrying a book, paperwork or small purchases without being cumbersome. Then they are also easy to throw in the wash. As a gift, you can give simply include a bottle of wine and a baguette and it is a wonderful gift. Or use just one larger block (12") attached to fabric and folded. This size is perfect to hold one bottle. With this I use a very small strap. One year I gave these to all the folks at my shop and enclosed bottles from a local winery.
