I toss mine in the dryer with a large damp towel and a dryer sheet. It seems to take all the fuzz off and gives it a fresh scent while retaining most of the crispness.

I wash every quilt before it goes out the door. I usually throw in 2 or 3 color catchers with it as I do not pre-wash before hand.
I always wash mine with a few color catchers. REgular machine, regular detergent, dry in dryer. I figure the recipients are more likely to use them if taking care of them is easy. So far so good.

I guess I'm in the minority here - I never do. I want them to look new.
I'm with you, I do not wash my work before I give it away or sell it. I enjoy the newness of the fabric look.
I don't wash mine either. It seems like it would look used. Of course I haven't been quilting all that long and have not made any for myself so I really don't know what one would/should look like after laundering. I pre wash all of my fabrics before cutting.
When I make a quilt I handle the fabric so much, starch the fabric, so much touching - I always wash the quilt when I am done. I use my washing machine, cold water, regular detergent, gentle cycle and then into the dryer with a lower temperature heat.
I don't wash before giving away unless I feel the quilt needs it for some reason.
