I would wash it if it needed it. Sometimes they don't.

I always wash before I give them away, that way if there is any problem I can fix it before it gets to it's new owner.

I always sleep under a quilt before I give it away -- it is supposed to infuse the quilt with your happy thoughts and dreams about who you are giving it to. Then when they sleep under it, they will have a part of your happiness and love towards them,

Thanks for any info!

yep wash it right after "I" sleep under it...Suppose bring good luck if you sleep under it first!

Really? I have never heard of this before. I think I would feel really weird sleeping under someone else's quilt.

I use the color catchers to even tho I DO prewash. That way I can tell the recipient if THEY need to use the Color Catchers next time. Frequently I give them a few in a ziplock with instructions on use and where to find them if they need more. My son is getting his 1st quilt from me this week. HE will get a WHOLE BOX! lolol

I always wash before gifting to charity, friends or family there are pollens, sizings, dye residues and of course oils from our hands, dust and who knows what things get into the projects while we're working on them. This way I know it was clean and desensitized befoe goving and I like the antique and soft way quilts look.

Actually I usually wash all my material before I cut it.

I always wash mine. I have the dogs and am afraid someone will have a pet dander allergy and break out in purple spots if there is any dog hair on anything.

What do you mean by this? Do you lay the sheets so they get sewn into the quilt?

MarilynLouise 09-20-2011 06:49 PM

I never wash mine but I give washing instructions along with the quilt.

Winkee 09-21-2011 03:59 PM
