Make a great Ham? Am I missing something? I don't understand. What is a ham?

I shred them by hand and do the humane society doggy beds....along that line, you know those fabrics that are tooo heavy to ue for quilts......they are wonderful for those doggy beds ...and the fabric that is just too thin for a quilt...that makes another layer on those doggy beds ..........

I measure width and length and attach a sticky not (with a pin) and save for purse handles, tote handles etc. :)

I make luggage tags.

I've also been known to zig zag them together to make a larger piece, especially the "overage" long strips, after getting my quilts back from the long arm.

Here's a pattern that calls for 2 1/2" wide strips of leftover batting:

This project is also my avatar.

I don't really have anything new to add. I save strips that are at least two inches wide. Sew them together and use for small projects and practice quilting. Wider pieces go into planned projects such as a scrap reversible quilt. For a couple of years now, I've been saving and shredding very small pieces for draft dodgers which have been requested by family members.

Oh and you can use long, narrow pieces to reinforce tote bag handles.

I just cut them into smaller pieces toss them in a basket and use them to clean my machine off with it is gentel and doesn't cause any excess dust!

besides the ideas mentioned, I also will keep some very narrow strings with my binding kit--and will tuck them under the binding if it feels a little flat.
I'll re-use the larger pieces when I long arm (seamed together), but smaller scraps go into a saver bag for a fellow quilter that makes them into neck pillows for residents of nursing homes (and others).

I use them for purses, but also use them on my dry mop to dust the tile floor and get all the thread, scraps, and dust bunnies that propagate with lightening speed!

This a very timely thread for me! I am planning a 'play/organize/sew' day on Jan 1st. I have a PILE of batting scraps. One idea I have not seen: The bags that use fabric covered clothesline?I use a fabric strip with a strip of batting. Fold the edges into the center and then fold the strip in half. Stitch down the center...then zig zag the strips to gether . When its big enough, you can cut it into bag size pieces. This bag has binding added to the units then the binding is zigzagged or hand stitched together. You could use this method to use on any of the clothesline bag patterns.Note: I cannot load the picture of the stitching down the middle of the strip. You can see that straight stitching on the bag pictures. The zig zag is to sew the strips to each other. Clear as mud? lol
