Not sure if your machine would behave the same way my Bernina does but I just open the zipped designs into the Benina program and they open unzipped and I can then save them unzipped to the flash drive or move them to my machine.

Anything that isn't breathing. I have 2 machines and I keep them going (Brother inovis4500 and a viking designer1) all the time. Once you get started it is very addicting. It opens up a whole new world to you.
|
I have done burp cloths, quilt squares, t-shirts, jackets, quilt labels. Like Janet M. said above, anything that doesn't run away!
|
They are so pretty. Smart gal and creative too!
|
I embroider on my quilt blocks and make quilts with them. Right now I have a couple of blocks embroidered to make a quilt I am calling a Quilters Quilt... it will have a lot of sayings on it pertaining to quilting and sewing and some images of sewing things like buttons, measuring tapes, etc... The material I will be using will have sewing items on it... like pins, spools of threads, etc... Hope to be able to finish it some day... it's in the works right now and that's what counts.. Have fun with you new machine.. :)

Toilet Paper! I have a roll for every holiday. :)

I seem to do more embroidery then reg sewing but thats OK I seem to love doing it! I just made last night 2 book marks for my grandsons teachers and they love them!!! Here is a great site where I spend alot of $$ at and only buy the sale ones. They have new every Tues evening after 6pm est.
Enjoy http://www.emblibrary.com/el/default.aspx |
For Christmas, Each of my 17 grandchildren will get a fleece blankie embroidered with their name and something cool they like: footballs, horses, dragons, cars, fairies, monkeys.. 10 down, 7 to finish up. I bought some fleece for the 1st few, then found throws at Big Lots and Family Dollar store for less than I can buy fabric.
|
The picture of the quilt on the left, is one that I embroidered the squares and put together. There are 33 blocks in all.
|
I embroider towels, and make pillowcases with a decorative letter, add elegant lace and give as wedding presents. I just smocked my first dress for my granddaughter.
|
I embroider the blocks. You can embroider on fleece. Brother is the only one to have Disney designs. You go to the last color that outlines the design and embroider only that color and you have a light weight design. It works for any design. The Disney designs embroider on sweatshirts, jean pockets, collars. My grandkids love them.
|
I just got one too and so far have only decorated a t shirt that I wear under a big blouse or jacket. Pretty neat to watch. LOL

Now if I could steal this thread...I love machine embroidery...my friend had 2 Bernina 830 and we had a wonderful time embroidering. I'd love to have an embroidery machine. I can't afford Bernina anything, so what's the best machine for the least money? I want to be able to embroider quilt labels, hand towels, quilt blocks, download designs from computer to flashdrive to machine. Prefer not to have the disks that you buy preloaded and then put in machine unless there are unlimited designs I could buy. Not into Disney, but would love baby designs. I think you get my drift. Reading this thread makes me miss my friend so much. Would love to get into embroidery work like she did. |

I started this thread and ran into a glitch tonight. I downloaded 30 designs off the Internet, unzipped them with WinZip so they all have the PES file extension, copied them to my thumb drive and inserted it into my PE 770. The machine only recognizes 1/2 of the designs. They are all for a 5 x 7 hoop, so size isn't the problem. Any ideas anyone? Also, it was a package of 30 designs from embroidery.com

It is probably because you have too many designs on your USB for your machine to read. Mine does that too.
Try removing some or use another thumb drive and put what you need at the time on it, that's what I do and it is just fine. |

I love the toilet paper! I am fairly new to the embroidery world. I have a Bernina 640. Do you hoop the TP? Stabilizer?

Joeysnana:
I'm a bit late seeing this thread but has anyone explained that every embroidery machine has a set stitch limit for any one design. In other words a detailed design area might fit in your 5 x 7 hoop but if it exceeds the number of stitches that your EM can do, then it won't read the design. EmbLibrary.com has a Help section which explains this so much better than I can. They also have a list of many different machines and their stitching limitations. Have fun! |
To answer the question....what do I embroider?? Nothing...I don't have a machine...and I want one so badly!! Santa forgot me, I guess. Instead he left me a TV for my sewing room. I know, I know, I should be happy...and I guess I am...just still wishing. :0(
