I am not really fond of yo-yos either but I sure do love the looks of this quilt that yngldy posted the link to. If I had been given enough yo-yos to make this quilt, that's sure what I would do with them. At least it would probably use them all up at one time. It's beautiful .... and I am not even into shabby stuff.

I saw this quilt at the KS state fair this past year. I believe it was made up with something like 20,000 yoyos. It was a queen size! Of course it won a ribbon! Maybe you could make something similar? Sorry for the bad photography, I couldn't get a good angle because of all the admirers standing around:)

And I once made a scrappy yoyo throw for my parents for Christmas. It turned out really pretty and cheerful.

yngldy: thank you so much for sharing that absolutely beautiful yo-yo quilt.

My favorite use for yo yos is in making animals and dolls. My mother made me a clown doll with yo you body, arms and legs and a white sock head. I thought I was in heaven! Loved that doll for many years and wish I still had it today.

I have a pattern for cats made with yo yos. You can make any animal with them, just use the animal stuffed head with the yo yo body. One doll takes a LOT of yo yos.

I love yo-yo's, especially the floral ones. I put some in the cornerstones of one of my nieces' Quilt. So cute! On my bucket list is a yo-yo bed topper or bed runner topper. I'm not sure whether I'll be patient enough, though, so it may end up as wall art. :)

I've never made yo-yos or worked with them. I did see a darling vintage decorative pillow with them, though. It was probably 8x10 or smaller.

our guild has a yo yo garland to put on the tree we put up at the local museum every year

Thank you for that post! The quilt is beautiful. By sewing the yo-yo's on top, the problem of the spaces between them getting caught on things is eliminated. I also think the white background shows of the color in the yoyo's very nicely!
