Maybe you could do it by weight, but still in a one-rate box or envelope. That's what the online store does on the "scrap" bags, even though the pieces are certainly not scraps. I'm not a purist quilter, so I'd be excited to buy a package unseen. Kinda like the lottery (LOL). Just my 2 cents worth.

what part of ohio you from? Maybe the quilters from the charity groups would like to buy a great deal of material.

When you are posting your ad perhaps you could show a sample array of the fabric in one or two boxes, tell what colors arrays you have and tell interested buyers to contact you for any questions they have about the specific colors they're interested in. This way you wouldn't have to post all the colors initally. Once people see the color samples in the posted pics they should have an idea as to the quality and quantity you're offering for the price, per box or lb,you decide to charge.

I stand the fabrics up sideways in the box and take one picture. Then I put the fabric on the bathroom scale and tell how many pounds it is. For cotton fabric, 4 yards is about a pound. This is acceptable for a bargain box. The picture shows the colors/prints and the weight gives an approximate yardage. If you want a better price, you will need to measure it. There are documented bad experiences on eBay, but I don't think that kind of issue will come up with the quilters on this board. We are all willing to help you.....we get fabric!!!! Why don't you try 20-25 yards in the medium box which would take it down to around $40-$50 plus $10.95 shipping? (If you want $3 per yard, it will be higher) You would get more takers. |
