I agree with the statement here - and it makes the quilt confusing when vastly different styles of design/fabric are used in large areas like your quilt (small piece scrappy quilts are different). I like the ideas of brighter colors or even black and white (if there is more black than white). The white on your blocks makes the inner "card" stand out very well and give one level of rest for the eye.

I agree with the folks who say the fabric is out of keeping with the blocks. I do think you need a less busy fabric that compliments the blocks.

I bought a dark purple batik that I think will look great! I'll post a picture soon. Thanks for all the help!

ok, this is what I chose. It's sort of what I'd pictured in my head, and I think it's going to look great! I hope you all (or at least some of you) approve!

I agree with everyone else. I dont care to much for it. your eye goes to the back ground. not the picttue. love the stamp pictures. to funny.

sorry, I don't really like it. When I first looked at it I didn't feel a "wow" factor. Good luck

Yup! That works!! Even though I don't see a lot of purple in the blocks, I think thats actually working FOR you instead of against you. The value of the purple is in tune with the bold colors from the blocks, it's dark enough to set off the white frames around the blocks, and it neither clashes with or draws out one single color from the blocks.

Good choice!

I initially liked the first one you posted, but then when I got to the end of the thread and saw the purple, I changed my mind! I think you made a great choice with switching to the purple. It fits better with the colors you have in the quilt already. Well done!

Thanks! There are actually some small bits of purple in the blocks (I didn't even notice them until someone at the store pointed them out!) so I think it ties together nicely.

I like the way it looks with these 2 fabrics.
