My mother and grandmother both quilted and I was never interested in quilting. Now at 71 it is consuming my life. So you never know the influence you've had. I've always wished I had my gm treadle and my mom's singer it was a portable with that wood coffin type lid. I'm looking for one!

I was blessed to get to bring all of my mother's quilting and sewing "stuff" home with me... that was years ago when I was still teaching. Now that I'm semi-retired I'll have time to start going through all of it. I'm committed to cleaning out the closets here in the house before bringing all the "new" stuff in, though. Unfortunately, my DD isn't interested in sewing or quilting (yet), so I suppose I need to start thinking about this!

I am the only quilter, but my youngest dgd is only 14 weeks old..I have great plans for her!!

At this point, my daughter has already spoken for most of it. If she doesn't want it, Right now, I have 4 good(high end) machines including a quilting machine. Maybe, I'll put that in my will, who gets the sewing stuff, that is. Yep, I"ll add that part to my will- whenever I get around to making one.

I'm sure the lady has a smile on her face in heaven knowing her stuff is now with someone who cherishes it.

I've thought about this many times and still can't answer this question. I know my sons, dil and gs will put it all in the junk yard, including my ggm's Domestic machine and my gm's feather weight Singer. Hopefully I'll have a little time to find someone that will enjoy what little I have.

I'm with you on this... I have all sons and maybe I will be blessed with DIL but if not. I do not think letting it all go in a Rummage sale is a bad idea. Just thinking of all those that might "Make a Quilt" because they happened on some "cheaply priced fabric and Machines" would be WONDERFUL, especially if they couldn't of afforded them otherwise.

Downsize as you age? I guess I'm doing it backwards...LOL

I look forward to "being" there! :-D

I really like this idea...will have to consider it since no one sews that I know (granddaughter is trying but doesn't seem really interested)

I'll probably give it to my two nieces who quilt, one in FL one in TX. I'm working on teaching my GS how to quilt but he's only 7 so its hard to determine if he would like my stash in the far distant future. My DH knows of this plan as I know what to do with his flyfishing stash.
