I have the Viking Designer 1. You can probably get a used one in your price range now. It is a good value for the money as it is a sewing and embroidering machine using up to the Mega Hoop size. (About 14.2" x 6")

I have a brother SE350 you have to use Ped basic with it but there are other brothers in your price range that hook up to the computer

I have a Brother 4000D and a Bernina 630E.

I have a Pfaff 7570, a Pfaff 2170 and a Bernina 830 (new edition).

I have the pfaff Creative and the Creative Vision. Very nice machines.

I have a Janome MB4 and 350e. I love them both.
