I stopped by Goodwill on a lark, just because I was driving by, and got two sewing boxes full of stuff. Once I sorted out and threw away the "junk" I ended up with two bags of buttons, a bunch of old thread (I know it's best not to use this for quilt making, but may be okay for decorative stiches), a bag full of snaps and eye and hook closures, and some other odds and ends. I got all the stuff in one box so now I have an empty one to fill up!
If any of you ladies need to "refresh your girdle", I've got the trolley supporters you need. :-) |
uh....no thanks...

Cool -- lots of fun stuff. Haven't seen the girdle clips in a coons age!!

When panty hose came in the girdle went out!!!! Great find:)

I remember those girdle clips. I wore a girdle and didn't need one now I need one and don't wear one. You sure made a haul.

Do I see wooden spools in that stash?
|
I remember those!!! I also remember my aunts bending over to lock them to the single hose they wore, one on each leg, and screaming when their fingernails started a run in those extremely hard to get hose!!!!! They were precious things, and I would be sent to "the store" to see if one of my Grandma's kin would have a pair or two of them "below the counter" for my aunts. I'd get them in a paper sack so no one could see what they were....they were THAT precious and hard to get.

My girdle just hasn't been getting the support it needs lately. It bears a heavy burden....

Did you know you can use those clips to secure a picnic table cover or a fitted sheet whose elastic is done for?
|
I'm a little bit younger (not a lot) but I don't know what my trolley is! (LOL) Please excuse my ignorance, and help me out by explaining it to me! Thank you so much!

Wow, you got lots of great goodies, so glad you stopped by, I love looking at the thrift stores also
|
I haven't thought about a girdle since, when I was a child, my Mom(who is now 87 yrs young) bought one of those new Playtex Living Girdles...the thing was made from some kind rubber... the day she tried it on was very, VERY hot...the first time she tried to go to the bathroom, it wouldn't budge...she finally had to get my Dad to cut the thing off of her very carefully with scissors...and it didn't help that all of us, especially my Dad, were laughing...she never bought another one!!! lol...Naomi

Nice find and thanks for the laugh!

The girdle is a hoot. It's bad enough we have to wear the d*# bra. But to put that on too.
You certainly hit the jackpot. I went past my local shop and I have spied two yes two sewing machine stands and I am pretty sure that there were cords hanging out of one. So it is off to shop this morn while hubby is at work. |
You could get a few $$ for that. A scrapbooker would snatch it right up. In fact, 7 Gypsies would probably retail it for 6.99!!
|
Oh that is a hoot! I pass on the girdle clips, but you did good on everything! One never knows when you might need a girdle clip, now your prepared!

I remember girdles. My grandmother wore one. I think I put one on to fit in my wedding gown. I did wear garter belts though. ouch. Sitting on the hard wooden seats in high school with those things digging into the back of your legs, and then peeling them off when you stood up.
There is a certain group that will buy those clips because they use the girdles and garter belts. Personally I think they are nuts. My daughter chooses to wear garter belts. I just shake my head. maybe they are more interesting when you Don't have to wear them everyday. LOL |
"the trolley supporters"
Now now don't be in shuch a rush to be rid of the "trolley supporters":-P You never know when they might come in handy to keep blankets to mattress pads attaced to matress. easpecially for kiddies! Dawn |
If you would want to sell those trolley supporters, I would sure like to buy them. They would look nice in the shadow box I am working on. Please consider.
