Janome 11000
Janome Gem Platinum
Basic Janome serger
Gramma's Wheeler and Wilson treadle
HandiQuilter Avante longarm

Would trade it all (except for my Gramma's treadle) for the new Janome 12000!

SandySews 10-26-2011 05:32 AM

I have a Bernina 153 and a Bernina 440. Love them both. The only other machine I would like to have is a longarm quilting machine.. but can't afford it right now

Nana Tami 10-26-2011 05:32 AM

Great machine a true work horse!

Sally J 10-26-2011 05:37 AM

Black Featherweight (Shelley)-- now class machine. Learned how to sew on one and finally got one last year. Awesome!
Viking 150-- was my class machine. Gave it to my son and he is now is learning to sew
Viking 500 -- dropped it off a sewing table, case is bent but still sews great
Viking Designer 1 - LOVE IT, does everything and does it perfectly, never a tension problem.

If anyone is interested in a Designer 1 embroidery unit I have it and never has been opened

jeaninmaine 10-26-2011 05:37 AM

I don't do a lot of stitches or fancy work so I have no need of a computerized machine. These are what I have. Most from yard sales or from before I got married.

1 Sphinx Singer treadle
1 Singer 221
1 Singer 301
1 Singer 401a
1 Singer 500 (it could be 501, without going home and looking, I'm not certain)

ontheriver 10-26-2011 05:46 AM

I have a Pfaff Creative 4.0. I will keep this machine until I wear it out. I love it.

Digitizingqueen 10-26-2011 05:53 AM

I have a Viking Desinger II and a brother Disney emroidery machien I also have a featherweight and of course my long arm - bought the best I could afford it is a joy to sew versus the Pain when my old singer started not sewing as well - saving for a baby lock Audrey to carry with me to sewing and classes...

BarbZ 10-26-2011 05:53 AM

I have a Janome 6600
Janome MC3500
Juki straight st. which I am going to sell.

treelady 10-26-2011 06:01 AM

I have a New Home Treadle that is 100 yrs. old. She sews like a dream and doesn't need electricity! I also have a 1958 Singer with all attachments included. My grandmother was wonderful. She also sews like a dream. Even after 20 years of setting untouched. Well she is a little more than touched now. LOL

I have a Brother from Walmart. It does straight stitch and zig-zag, and has a zipper foot. I think I got it for $40 on sale. Actually I have two now, because when mom died last December I kept hers.

I also inherited my grandmothers treadle. It's a Royal something, and not in very good shape. I don't have a clue what to do with it or who to call to fix it up, but it's the one I learned to sew on and I can't fathom giving it away or trashing it.

ncredbird 10-26-2011 06:13 AM

Well, I have just sold most of my vintage Singers but still have a
Singer Featherweight
Singer 301A
two Singer 15-91's that I need to find new homes for
1 Viking Designer SE which does most everything including embroidery
1 Janome Horizon 7700 that I got last year for quilting because I couldn't find an affordable long arm system and now need to sell because . . .
I finally found a used APQS Lenni 20" long arm system locally that I could afford and is sitting downstairs for me to learn all of it's tricks. Too many machines . . . Not enough time or space. Ann in TN

fmhall2 10-26-2011 06:19 AM

One of my students was given an old White last year, and I printed her a manual from the internet. There is a website where you can do that for all old machines, but I can't remember the URL. I'd say just Google old sewing machine manuals. I think that is what I did.

grannypat7925 10-26-2011 06:20 AM

Singer Quantum XL1000 - embroidery and sewing machine.
Pfaff 2056 with IDT which I love.
Serger - Janome
Old - Futura 900, just serviced, refurbished and ready to go.
Cover stitch machine.
Singer Curvy.

fmhall2 10-26-2011 06:30 AM

It is interesting what kind of machines everyone has. I have a

Pfaff 7570 with the embroidery setup,
Brother 6000i
New Home (older one) Computer for sewing speed only
Featherweight 221 (1954 model)
Viking 1100 (on permanent loan to a friend)
Brother LS 2020 (but it is spoken for)
Brother Lock 1034D serger which I love

Since I teach sewing and quilting in my home, I like to have some of the older ones around for them to learn on, and then I try to help them get one they can afford (usually recommend Brother)

galvestonangel 10-26-2011 06:36 AM

I have a Janome Horizon, which I love.
I also have a Janome 8000, with some embroidery cards
I have a Singer Featherweight
and another older black singer in a cabinet (not treadle)

I would love to have a treadle but as I have gotten older, I decided I have enough machines.

Right now I only have a cheap Brother machine that I bought at Wal-Mart. Don't get me wrong...I haven't had a lick of trouble out of it, but it only does so much. I mentioned to someone in the quilters guild I just joined that when I get my taxes back I'd like to get one that I could drop the feed dogs on and learn to do some free-motion quilting on, but that I can't afford much. She told me she has a Viking that she hasn't used much that she'd be willing to let go! I don't know which Viking it is, but she said she'd bring it to the next guild meeting so I can see it. I'm so excited!!! :c)

Oh...and right now my "dream machine" is a Sweet Sixteen. :c)

What Berninas do you have for sale? I would be interested in anything between the 1130 and perhaps the 1530, especially the 1230. I realize shipping is expensive but it would be a necessary evil to contend with. Poor packaging is not an option.

QuiltNama 10-26-2011 07:11 AM

2 newer Kenmores
1 Featherweight
1 301 Singer
1 Redeye tredle
1 645 Singer
1 Pfaff from my Grandmother
1 Juki serger
and a Handiquilter LA
I do use them all at different times for different projects

smcfadden 10-26-2011 07:16 AM

I have a BabyLock Melody, which I love. I got it on sale at a BabyLock dealer and used their free financing.

I just bought a used Janome 300E embroidery only machine, but it's not here yet.

Someday, I may buy a serger.

fabric_fancy 10-26-2011 07:20 AM

Juki F600 for piecing and sitting for quilting and Juki 98Q for frame quilting and i would buy them both again before anything else.

yes, i can afford a $3000 - i could afford a $20,000 machine - i don't buy them because i do not see the value for the money.

i sold bernina for 6 years and could have purchased one with my employee discount but i never saw the point when Juki works just as well and many times even better for a fraction of the cost.

DonnaR 10-26-2011 07:21 AM

I have the Viking Designer SE. I love it. I don't use the embroidery like I thought I would. Would rather piece.
I also have a Janome Gem Platinum for going to retreats and classes. Because it is only 12 pounts.
I also have a Voyager 17 longarm machine and frame. Love, Love, Love it.

smcfadden 10-26-2011 07:24 AM

What's a Juki?

ncredbird 10-26-2011 07:29 AM

Juki is a Japanese manufacturer of sewing machines. Mainly industrial models. They are very fast and sturdy machines. Some of the models have been developed or adapted for home use mainly by quilters to use on frames.
I do know what they are and have seen them being used but have never seen a dealer for them where you could walk in and look at them. I know they can be purchased online. Those of you that have them, did you get to look at one at a dealer before you purchased? Ann in TN

CindyLou 10-26-2011 07:40 AM

I have an old Kenmore freearm (first machine I ever bought), a Viking Designer I, a Viking Designer Diamond, a Tin Lizzy L18 longarm with grace frame and shirley stitcher robotics with quilt cad software, and a white 2000s serger. I think I'm set for life thanks to my hubby for spoiling me:)

Rose Marie 10-26-2011 07:43 AM

A Baby Lock strait stitch Jane on a frame.
Viking Sapphire 830 with 10 in throat. Love the needle down with the automatic foot lift when you stop sewing. Use it all the time.
Brother very cheap quilting machine for $129 and came with walking foot, table etc. This is my backup machine when Sapphire is in for servicing.
Some day will get a long arm for frame and use Jane for piecing.

bizzyquilter 10-26-2011 07:44 AM

I have a Bernina 1001
My grandmothers treadle that was converted with a motor that made it electric and sews like a dream. That's all I need.. have been sewing on them for many years and they never gave me trouble.

joysewer 10-26-2011 07:55 AM

I have a Brother Quattro sewing/embroidery and I love it! Just upgraded with a pen tablet that I can draw designs on or copy pics and embroider them. I worked at an embroidery shop and when it went out of business, I wanted more capabilities than my Babylock Ellure offered so I bought the Quattro.

penski 10-26-2011 07:59 AM

Kenmore from sears
HQ 16 sit down
not really

mahen 10-26-2011 08:00 AM

I have 20 vintage machines. Most of which are Singers. I do have a We and a Montgomery Wards. I read your posts on the board with Lostn51. Love your all's comments and all the wonderful machines and cabinets you show. June

fmhall2 10-26-2011 08:09 AM

There used to be a dealer in Canoga Park, CA. He also sold Vikings, but I know that store has gone out of business - I think the owners retired.

Joselake 10-26-2011 08:11 AM

I have a Singer 7469Q quilting machine and a 1941 Featherweight and my mom's Singer 404.

I really don't need any more machines, I can quilt just fine on my 7469Q.

caspharm 10-26-2011 08:11 AM

I have a Pfaff 2056, a FW 221, a FW 222, and an Innova 26"/12 ft/LS.

I'm thinking about a Juki for heavier projects.

mpeters1200 10-26-2011 08:16 AM

I have a few machines. My dream quilting machine was a Brother PQ9000 but I couldn't possibly get over the ticket price. I had lost all hope of getting a machine I could quilt one when I was introduced to my "newest" machine. She's a 1954 Singer 66 with the same 9 x 6 throat as the big Brother I was looking at. We are still making acquaintances and getting used to eachother.

I piece with a Janome 415 that I bought new for 200.00 8 years ago. I put her on layaway and had her bought in 3 months. I use her to go to class, club any traveling outside of the house since she's only 8 pounds. She is the only machine I have capable of zig zag so I use her for machine applique as well. She is my main, go to machine, for now.

I inherited my mom's FW and as soon as I can secure a bobbin case for her, she'll be my new go to machine. I do straight line quilting on the 66 and piecing on the Janome.

My "new" dream machine is a Singer 15-90 that from what I understand FMQ's really well. So that will be my next purchase.

Someday, I'd like to get into embroidery. I would like just a basic machine to learn on. I inherited my MIL's babylock, but it's very outdated and my FIL threw away the hoops and all the design cards thinking they were broken. I replaced the hoop, but can't figure out anything for the designs. No manual and I can't get one from them either. I own an embroidery machine and a cord and that's pretty much it. I'm not worried about it now, since I'm just a happy quilter!

Robinlee 10-26-2011 08:30 AM

Phaff 7570, viking 180 and 2 very old antique singers in cabinets and 2 Huskyvarna White Vikings. Would love to own a Designer 1 Viking, that is my dream machine.

kwiltnutt 10-26-2011 08:35 AM

I have Bernina 440QE that cost $4000 3 yr. ago but I love it! I would stay with a Bernina and drool over the 830 but they are $12,000 here! Needless to say unless I win the lottery................!!

sewingmom 10-26-2011 08:36 AM

I have a Bernina Activa 135, purchased for me by my children as a birthday gift 10 years ago. I didn't think I needed a new machine, but I love it. My old machine was a Kenmore zigzag purchased in 1966. Some of the newest machines cost much more than a car used to.

yes, i have a few Juki dealers in my area but i purchased mine online thru Sew Vac Direct because they have the best customer service and pricing.

the Juki F600 is not an industrial machine its a high end DSM even the 98Q or the newer 2010 models are not industrial machines.

Juki has a domestic line and an industrial line just like Singer, Brother, etc.

Ginger2010 10-26-2011 08:46 AM

I have a Kenmore with cams from back in the 70's (Saving for granddaughter and a Pfaff 1475CD and a Pfaff 2140/2170 (Sell Pending)and of course my new Baby Lock Ellisimo!
