Serger.
What is the name on the front?

Grandma Candy 09-10-2011 03:15 PM

It is a Bernina serger. I have one just like it. They are hard to thread (the upper and lower loopers) but if the blades are sharp it works greaat. It gives seams a very nice finish that won't ravel and looks like the garments you buy in the store.

Ditto, it looks just like my serger. They were made by Juki for Bernina or it could carry the Juki brand. They do a wonderful rolled hem with the flick of a lever. No changing the foot to do the rolled hem. I had to replace my foot control once. I've also had mine 20+ years.
Good luck on the auction.

Looks like my first Serger....

It is a serger....

It has a name on it - look up the name on the internet to find more information.

Go to a sewing machine store and look around and maybe take the machine along and ask questions.

Looks like a serger without the thread holder.

BLady 09-10-2011 06:51 PM

It looks like my Bernette 335 and it is a five thread serger.I bought it me years ago and it still is doing great.

I have a serger that looks just like it, color and it made by bernina, it is a heavy serger, but mine only has 2 dials, I inherited from my MIL, I put mine away and started using hers, and love it much better.

This is a Bernina serger ( or what we call downunder an overlocker ) I have had mine for over 20 years it runs like charm I wouldnt part with it , one of the best sergers Bernina ever made .

Deborah12687 09-11-2011 05:07 AM

It is an old serger but not sure how old.

Just Me... 09-11-2011 05:41 AM

Looks like an older serger to me. :)

Suziuki 09-11-2011 01:38 PM

I just noticed at bottom right of photo a case top it looks like. Can anyone make out what it says on it? Wonder if it the case top for this machine?[/quote]

My eyes tell me that it is a cardboard box with "Handle with Care" printed on it.

I also think it is an Overlocker (Aussie for Serger).

older serger 4 spools

tlpa 09-11-2011 07:00 PM

My thought was a Bernina Serger also

fireworkslover 09-18-2011 07:17 PM

This is a Bernette serger made by Bernina, about 25 yrs. old. We have several of these where I work. It might be a three thread or four thread, can't tell by looking at the picture. They aren't too hard to thread, there should be a diagram inside the door on the lower right. Pull the handle to the right and slide the door open and then pull towards yourself and the area where the threads go will be visible. They are workhorses.

Serger

lil-g-ma 09-24-2011 11:05 PM

Definitely Not a blind hem machine....serger, bernette, 300 series, 4thread...great machine, sturdy, hard worker, easy to thread.
