What is this needle used for?
 

I found this needle when organizing my needle box. I remember buying it but I have no idea what for, it was years ago.

I have seen upholstery needles that are angled but without the little jog at the tip that yours has. I have seen tapestry needles that just have the little jog at the tip but not angled like yours.

It is going to be so much fun when someone supplies the answer. I have no idea but I would probably try to repair a shoe or do some leather craft with it. I know we have some leather workers here.

I've never been interested in working with leather but I do know I bought this needle. Just cannot remember why or where. It is not hefty, more like regular needle, sharp too.

A tapestry needle, perhaps?

There are also some posted on Amazon for "seaming and darning craft projects". So maybe you planned on making stuffed animals or something similar?

I've seen some suture needles with odd shapes, and they are very sharp. Maybe for large animal, it's too big for use on people.

I'd be more inclined to think it's for doll/stuffed animal sewing.

Have you ever been interested in making stuffed dolls? I have a needle very similar to yours that I used to make dolls for my grandchildren.

I have seen and used many differently shaped needles but not one like this. I will be watching this thread to see what comes up on its use.

Could it be a snag grabber?
