I'm working on an Arabian Lattice that I got from John Flynn. I have all but the last row sewn, and then to sew the rows, etc. I haven't decided on how to quilt it yet, but it is my SOs Christmas present. Reds, whites, and blacks, in a whole lot of patterns. I am sure he will love it.

I haven't had time for any quilting today. Went to church this morning and then returned home with the whole family to slow smoke ribs and carve pumpkins. We now have nine masterpieces from myself, DH, 4 DS, 2 DIL, and 1 girlfriend. Everybody said is seemed like Christmas without all the expense of gifts. It was one of those days you want to keep forever. Tomorrow I hope after work I have some time and energy to finish quilting a queen size snowball and 9-patch for DS's girlfriends' birthday on the 11th. She requested one like the one on his bed and brought fabrics from childhood curtains, and other things that had good memories. I've had a huge headache with the tee shirt strip on the backing, but I know it will be well loved and appreciated. Reading these posts I'm getting motivated to use up the 2 1/2 inch strips I cut from all my scraps soon. I just mailed out a DP9 baby quilt made from some of the 4" squares I cut from my scraps.

Wonderful!!! Love how that came out...I am really starting to like scrappy quilts.

Wanted to work on neighbor gifts for Christmas, but instead I'm sorting fabric into bundles for projects. Will be pre- washing like colors and pressing fabrics so that I can just focus on sewing another day.

I am taking a break from quilting for a few days. I crawled around on the floor pinning a quilt(5 hrs from taping the backing to last pin) and found muscles I didn't know I had. LOL So sore. Don't feel too bad though, the 39 yr old that was helping me is in pain too. And she works out on a semi regular basis.

I just got my DH s quilt back from the LA and now to put the binding on.

I have severe tendonosis in my left thumb/wrist so am trying to find something I can do (quilting related) that won't worsen the condition & that I can manage with the splint I have to wear. I'm really going through quilting withdrawal. Is anyone else out there as addicted to quilting as I am? lol

Finishing bindings on some Thanksgiving placemats

Well sadly I'm working on a small angel piece that is hand appliqued and embroidered to go in the coffin of my 3 month old granddaughter who passed away on Oct. 22nd. Her Death is under investigation and her funeral in on the 1st. I started in late last night. I was to meet this little angel of mine next month at Thanksgiving/my birthday for the very first time.

I am piecing blocks together from the pattern Seaside Cotillion from nancy Rink designs. Then I will start another quilt top called Eliza's quilt from our plantations here. My goal is to Complete 5 quilts by the end of the year. I have 3 done.

marla 10-29-2012 08:46 AM

I too tried to organize scraps by cutting them for future use. The problem is not having a pattern in mind at the time so I decided to put them aside until I have a pattern or project.

I have decided to make a string block quilt, to clean out my mess, I may donate this one. I started cutting up my scraps and to my surprise there is quite a bit and once you cut them into 2 1/2 strips they are also more organised and easier to imaige a quilt being made from them. My husband said I really should do that when more of my scrap bins...they are becoming unruly. I was just going to cut them into shapes and strips, but so glad I have decided to use them right away. So happy quilting everyone...stay safe during the storm.

I have finally gotten time to work on my quilts as I have been working on chorus dresses and nutcracker costumes. So last night I finished 2 tops from classes that I took at convention at the begining of the month. One is called a crazy shuffle ( and it is ) and the other is called colorburst with a floating center square that is really neat. I still have one class top left to do a strip tubing project and 2 partial quilts of valor to finish but I might go and unsew some of the other costumes that I still have to do as I expect there will be more to do as soon as I turn in these on wednesday. There is always tomorrow as everything is closed down and all are home.

What a beautiful quilt?

Ditto here.

I am working online creating a profile for this site and another I joined. I also like to add pictures and videos to my pinterest boards for future referance. Then I will start working on laying out my backing/batting for a Queen Size quilted bedspread I am making. My next project will be to strip and paint an old bedframe and stencle it then buy the mattrice/boxsprings so I will eventually have more than just a plain old twin bed.

I am working on putting together a QS kitchen sink quilt from Kim Brackett's 1st Scrapbasket book. QS is about 4 times the one in the book. Still making units - must be close now - and putting rows together.

That's funny, I'm doing the same thing. Except, mine is only six month late (so far). I'll use my friends long arm and be done in December.

I am working on a black, red, & grey secret Santa quilt for Christmas, & a Bento Box quilt with purples & blacks.

Off to Joann's today to use my coupons! Since they are all for non sale stuff and of course everything is sale, I am hoping to get more muslin backing and batting. Then 8 one yard cuts for the 14 French Braid tablerunners for my office gifts and about 8 yards of polar fleece to make no sew scarves for our cheer moms (go T Birds!). Yikes! its been awhile since I have been able to get to Joanns so I am looking forward to some FUN! (My mother thinks I am insane, LOL)

BeckyB 11-10-2012 05:23 AM

I plan on working on a quilt for my neighbor for his Christmas present!

I have never done a curve binding. Did you have any problems? Any tips to share?

I will be FINISHING a mini I started last May! Just a little bit of handquilting left to be done. It has been put off and put off and put off as I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to do it. Yesterday the curved binding went on - which I have never done before and it came out far beyond my expectations. I am so excited to get it finished.

#1piecemaker 11-10-2012 05:42 AM

I am going to be sewing binding on a couple of quilts and then bind them by hand tonight while I watch TV. I might also have time to load up a small quilt and get it quilted after I get through with my chores.

OKLAHOMA PEACH 11-10-2012 06:45 AM

I going to storage shed, everything I want out is at the back of course, fabric tubs and winter clothes. I was supposed to be nice today with cold the rest of weekend, but guess what, the weathermen were wrong again.

I will be working on a wool applique wallhanging, "Horn of Plenty". Since this photo, I've FMQd everything on my Singer 15-91 (what a joy!!) and now I'm ready to prep the sleeve and the binding. I'm still waiting for the hanger to arrive, but soon I'll be able to hang it over the mantle with autumn leaves and twinkly lights. Nice on these short fall days.

carolaug 11-12-2012 03:12 AM

I really love this wall hanging! Is there a reason why you use wool instead of cotton? Can you wash it once done?
