I sell on eBay and not all people are honest. If it isn't what was agreed to you have 90 days to contact paypal but don't wait. PayPal will investigate your claim and you will get your money back or your machine back. If his family can prove he really had surgery paypal will take that into consideration. Next time find a Singer authorized repair they love working on the old machines and they always replace damaged wires!

I reread your first message and the machine was not bought on ebay BUT if it was paid for by PayPal they should be able to do something. I would definately contact the repair guy and tell him what went on and you received a non-working machine and are filing a complaint. wouldn't hurt, I don't think ebay would be able to help as it was not purchased thru them

We have tried to reach the repair man many times and receive no answer, either by phone or email. Very frustrating but a lesson well learned.

file a complaint---whether he was really sick or not, the son should have made sure you were taken care of the right way. That is an awful lot of money to just throw away. Also, make sure he sends yours back as well as the money.

I bought a Singer model 99 sewing machine in a cabinet that I loved at a local antique store. Since it needed work, I sent it to a person on EBay that sold me my Featherweight. He told me he was going to exchange my machine for one that was already refurbished if I didn't mind. As long as it was the same machine I had no problem with that. Now to get to the problem and my need for advice. The machine didn't arrive when he said it would. After waiting a few days we contacted him via EBay since he has a "store" on there. A few days later I received an email from his son saying he had major heart surgery but his son would send out my machine. Ok thus far
When the machine arrived it doesn't work. The wires going into the machine are bare, one isn't even attached to the machine, etc. I paid him $135 to refurbish this machine plus shipping and I got back a machine that can't be used. I paid through my PayPal account but this was a month or so ago since I was waiting for him to respond to my numerous phone calls and emails. I feel guilty compaining to PayPal about this transaction since I know he has been ill and may not even be with us but I also can't afford to throw away $135 on a machine that doesn't work. My question, sorry this was so long, what would you do. |
you need to fight and get your money back, are you sure you got your own machine back?

heck yeah, file a complain. I just did and it was no $135. it was for 20.00. Everyone I spoke to were nice, the seller, ebay and paypal. I emailed the selller, said he would credit my account. Couple of weeks went by and I saw no credit on my account, I emailed him again,he tells me to talk to ebay, ebay sends me to paypal. What had happen and I did not know this, is when you pay with a cc it goes back to your account and when you pay cash or debit it goes to a paypal account. That was where my problem was I was waiting to see the credit go back to my checking account. After we were done with that problem he helped me with another for 3.00, I had bought some fabric, never recieved it, the seller was out of it and twice she told me she would send it different days. Cancelled and got my 3.00 back. Go for it.
