My sewing machine locked up the other day. So my husband being a mister fix it decided to take it apart and fix it himself. Sure enough he managed to get it running again. Sounds like a purring kitten. To bad it is running in reverse. What was he thinking.

isnthatodd 02-09-2011 07:07 AM

How much he wanted to help you!!!

amma 02-09-2011 07:08 AM

 Oh No
Bless him! His heart was in the right place :D:D:D

Grama Lehr 02-09-2011 07:08 AM

Too funny!!
Did he have any parts left over??

lovingheart 02-09-2011 07:09 AM

My Sewing machine is for untrained hands off limit!

CoriAmD 02-09-2011 07:10 AM

This sounds like my husband! lol He is always willing to try and fix everything - but when it ocmes to my sewing machines, I stand right there and make sure it goes back together the same way it came apart. But I do appreciate him being able to fix it because the last time I took a machine in for repair, they screwed it up so I couldn't use it again.

JulieR 02-09-2011 07:11 AM

What a sweetheart! Appreciate the effort regardless of the result. Sounds like a keeper to me. :)

pattilynn 02-09-2011 07:11 AM

Sounds like mine........ gotta love 'em

kwiltamomma 02-09-2011 07:13 AM

sorry, but that made me LOL!

dixiebelle162002 02-09-2011 07:16 AM

At least he tried!

sueisallaboutquilts 02-09-2011 07:18 AM

Oh no!!!!!! :D

Annaquilts 02-09-2011 07:21 AM

LOL How did he do that?

Dina 02-09-2011 07:28 AM

Give him time, he will fix that too.

Raggiemom 02-09-2011 07:36 AM

Too funny, but at least he tried! :)

moonwork42029 02-09-2011 07:49 AM

mmmm can you just stand behind the machine and use it????

His heart was in the right place

SuzanneG 02-09-2011 07:57 AM

Gotta love our sweet hubbies! That was too funny!

SuzyQ 02-09-2011 07:58 AM

snicker snicker snicker ... well I guess he gets an "E" for effort. Is there a belt somewhere that he put on backwards?

Susan

raedar63 02-09-2011 08:01 AM

This made me laugh, You know ,at least he cared enough to try, mine may have grunted an acknowledgement he heard me if I said the machine wasn't working lol.

featherweight 02-09-2011 08:30 AM

My DH had better not touch my machines. I fix and repair the old ones myself. He even tells his buddies, that when it comes to my machines that I now about them than he could ever learn. I will do small things on the newer ones but if I can't fix on the first try I will trust them to my repairman..

Linda71 02-09-2011 08:46 AM

so funny, so sweet

clem55 02-09-2011 08:52 AM

Sounds like something my guy would do, screw it up I mean.LOL

scaroca 02-09-2011 10:12 AM

I am going to give him another chance to try and fix it. If he can make it run forward as well as it is running backwards I will be very happy :P

mltquilt 02-09-2011 10:16 AM

Okay, since it runs backwards when you try to sew can you use the reverse button and it goes forward. My DH is a fix it himself type of guy too, but not my sewing machines. He thinks it's okay to have a part left over.

mltquilt

scaroca 02-09-2011 10:26 AM

It does run forwards if you push the reverse button. How funny is that. He must have put a belt on backwards.

Cheshire Cat 02-09-2011 10:29 AM

How sweet, and the good news is you could probably get a new machine out of the deal if he can't reverse it.

laurlync 02-09-2011 10:31 AM

Any ol' repairman can get it running again, but it takes REAL TALENT to get it to run backwards! LOL

Sounds like the kind of talent I'm blessed with...

nycquilter 02-09-2011 10:40 AM

my husband offered to fix my sewing machine once...I told him I'd kill him first, holding my shears in one hand and my rotary cutter in the other--just in case he thought I was kidding! (I wasn't!)

We are very protective of our treasures huh???

Hope2quilt 02-09-2011 10:44 AM

Oh priceless. That is so much like something my husband would do!

GGrammie 02-10-2011 02:21 AM

too funny...

He must be related to my DH..
Tries to help, but everything comes out upside down, or backward,
All we can do is love him.

jeanneb52 02-10-2011 02:29 AM

He meant well! But my DH is only allowed in my sewing room to empty the garbage for just that reason.

hospicenurse 02-10-2011 02:33 AM

Ahhh.........too funny.

silvam 02-10-2011 04:27 AM

Sorry but I had to laugh - not because of the results - but the image I get of your expression when you tried to sew – that was properly a true “Kodak Moment” but with this said he is a keeper

CarrieAnne 02-10-2011 04:48 AM

Oops, at least he tried!

Suzi 02-10-2011 05:26 AM

Laughed at all the replys ........ my machines are ALWAYS fixed by my husband as he is one of those who can do everything (and I'm not kidding). Of course, I don't own any machines that are computerized because I know he will refuse to even attempt one of them. Mine are older, simple machines. He does the cleaning/oiling, tension adjustments if I'm stymied, smoothing of parts that seem to get slightly out of whack - and when one simply quits he has it purring again in an hour or so.

Ricki 02-10-2011 05:27 AM

funny

PieceandLuv 02-10-2011 05:46 AM

lol so much for purring or grrring

eimay 02-10-2011 05:52 AM

Let me guess...is he an engineer?

Carol J. 02-10-2011 06:30 AM

If it can't be fixed to sew both ways, do you get a new sewing machine?

Carol J.

Baloonatic 02-10-2011 06:31 AM

COOL!! Good excuse to get yerself another machine like a Bernina...then whenever you make an oops and need to grab the seam ripper, just simply go over to your old machine and reverse sew over that oops!
