Just what is her reluctants to having it finished if she is not superstisious? I do hope you come to a resolution with your mom and get to complete the quilt. Finishing it would honor both GGM & DM. peace GVO9: I like the way you think! Thanks! I also liked what you said! A big hug! |
I think I would finish it and give it to your mom!

I would finish the SBS quilt and then when your Mom see's your ok she'll love the quilt and if not you keep it. I have finished a lot of my aunt's unfinished crochet and cross stitch and it feels so nice to have these things. Good luck. Sue

I second this opinion. Please finish and display the quilt. Pass i to your daugher and keep it in the family. I know my mother would want me to finish her projects!

I know you would want to respect your mother. But I do not believe in luck good or bad.We can not live in a superstitious state. In the mountains where I live there are so many older peolpe who have many superstitions ,I would not be able to get anything done if they knew what and when I planned to perform a task. So I would finish the quilt, but out of your respect for your mom just don't tell her till your are done.Tell her your love for your grandmother was what compelled your actions.

If it was me I would finish it as everyone said your grams would love it if you did. She died doing what she loved quilting. I"m sure she died of old age or maybe she was sick but the quilt didn't make her die. I see to many times quilts are just put away in hope chest and just rot from no use. I would get it and find fabric if you don't have the same one so what it will be a generation thing now fabric from gramma and fabric from you and maybe your mom can help to and add something to it so it's a 3 generations quilt. I wouldn't care what the historians say it all changes as the times change. This is only my opinion. Some quilts end up at goodwill cause some people don't appreciate the work that went into that quilt. But you do appreciate this so go for it and quilt till your heart is content.
