What would you do?

I have asked for advice on this board before and have been very pleased with the response. What would you do to these 12 blocks? They are 12 1/2 x 12 1/2. I don't really care what size this turns out to be. Sashing-what color or colors? Border or borders-what color or colors? Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.

I would definitely sash them so you don't lose the individual blocks..I would arrange them from darkest overall to lightest..The sashing I would pick would blend with one of your colors, but not exact, to highlight the different designs---maybe a very light grey??

Do you have any more of the fabric's used? Those are very pretty blocks and I would be tempted to set them with alternating solid blocks to really showcase them. If you don't have enough fabric for that - but some - I'd sash them with cornerstones of 4 patch.

IMHO sashing is a must when the blocks are so pretty, it frames them like pictures. Maybe a yellow, then borders in the rose and the dark.
|
I love your blocks and that creamy butter fabric. I think I would see how that would look as sashing.
|
Definitely sash them or separate them somehow. The design is too busy and the blocks are lost.
|
Definitely sash them, and consider putting them on point. Somehow sampler quilts look much classier when set on point.
|
I'd do something a lot more interesting than just rows of blocks with plain sashing. I have a couple of patterns that have sampler type blocks but I don't think you can get the patterns. There is at least one book about how to set swap blocks that is likely to have more interesting things to do with sampler blocks.

Another vote for setting the blocks on point...either with sashing, or alternate blocks. As for color for the sashing...maybe a darker burgandy?

Thanks for the advice so far.
