Ouch. It's hard to put the quilting down, isn't it? The ladies that got me truly addicted to it forewarned me. Feel better, and do rest your arm. Your projects will be patiently waiting for your return.

a long list that was? Did you complete it in a day? I worked today, came home to hubby who started Italian sausages, I made a salad and did up some dishes and laundry. (Usual stuff!) Today is a beautiful day, with temps in the low 70's and overcast. While dinner cooked, DH and I took asmall walk. I got home about an hour early. I am taking some classes online and I'll have to do that until bedtime.
Anyone sewing tomorrow? (I have to work.) I hope to have sewing plans for the weekend, so I will have to get going in the house! My plans are---
to buy a crazy quilt book from Amazon this week, to make a friend a crazy quilt. Next weekend, I'd like to make 9 treat bags for my 9 Grands! Six boys and thre girls! I am itching to make some fabric post cards. Anyone else make these?
Sorry to have talked for so long! Happy sewing everyone!

You've got to be kidding!!! I lost my basting spray, had to take a spare key to my Son-in-law because he locked himself out of the house, was watching my poor fish die a slow death (is almost there today). and on and on and on. Now tomorrow I have good intentions, since I found my basting spray, I hope to finish the table runner I started Sunday and make a couple more, mail the QFK's I finished and start on more stuff for Christmas. It is supposed to rain here so maybe I can concentrate enough to get something done.

Ilovemydogs 10-18-2010 03:01 PM

I have 2 QFK that just need to be sewn together and washed. Then I have a churn dash quilt to put the layers together and sewn. I also have a baby quilt to do. The pieces are cut and ready to be sewn. My red/white/black needs to be sewn and the binding on. Hmmmm, then a gazillion other projects that I want to do! :-)

cjaye44 10-18-2010 03:02 PM

I am going to work on the label for Oct. doll quilt, start my winter table runner swap and pack the box for the Secret Santa swap....and hopefully, start clearing up the sewing room's chaos from the last 2 swaps. It's a mess

grandma Janice 10-18-2010 03:48 PM

Since I'm reading this in the evening, I will have to tell what I accomplished today. I mounted and framed 2 cross stitch pictures, rearranged some things in my sewing room(I was looking for something and that's the results) I put borders on a wall hanging quilt and finished it up so it's ready to put together, and now I'm doing some scrapbooking while I watch TV with DH. Guess it's been a productive day.

I've seen QFK in a couple of postings...what does that stand for?

Maybe1day 10-18-2010 04:19 PM

I am hoping to finish a couple of table runners and place mats for Christmas gifts today. With any luck I might be able to then make a start on some large (as in large man size) pot mitts for my brother as an addition to his Christmas present. He likes to cook and is always complaining about the pot mitts being too small for his hands.

Maybe1day

By about 4-5 weeks post-surgery you should be able to at least sit at the machine for about 5-10 minutes at a time and sew squares. In 2007 I fell and broke my right shoulder in 2 places, the collarbone and tore the rotator cuff. Gentle hugs for a good recovery. I learned to write left handed too.
Have your quilty friends cut a bunch of squares for you, so you can at least piece when you're able. My friends did that for me and I ended up with enough for baby quilt.
This is the quilt.

I finished fixing the tension on my quilting machine after my DH managed to get it off the frame (so heavy)then he put it back and now the stitch regulator isn't working Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I may leave it till I come back in the spring.

Your sewing will be there when you're able, in the meantime, do your daily PT and read, nap and watch TV, take your pain pills on time(much less pain that way).
Don't try to do much of anything else.. in 6 months to a year you'll be good as new. Can you tell I've been in your
shoes twice now?

sewmom 10-18-2010 05:04 PM

I spent the day running my DH quilt top to the LAQ. i finished it this weekend and it's for Christmas and a surprise. My friend and i were going to go to the LQS there but forgot it was closed on Mondays:(. After i get off the computer i'm going to work on April's UFO!!!

Rusty's Mama 10-18-2010 06:49 PM

Since I have not learned yet how to say no, I am FMQ the 1st of 4 quilts requested by my neighbor. Two are Xmas presents for her GDs and I have the second top done except for the borders. Went to our local quilt show this weekend and bought a kit with a golfing theme - want to do that quilt for my son for Xmas. Plus, too many UFOs to mention but at least I have choices if I get bored doing one thing!!!! LOL!!!

Not sure if you were mentioning my list, but the answer is, nope. I got a chance to be the "sibling representative" and give plenty of input into another sibling's potential car purchase, which our parents are purchasing for him. So, nothing really productive done in regards to the quilting. I did, however, get the Calculus studying done, along with the not quilting part at the end. And, I just bought a sewing table, which will delay my project a bit more. So, after assembling that, I won't have a drafting table for a sewing machine table that "dances" with the sewing machine's rhythm. But, well worth the time. :XD:

SueKitten1 10-18-2010 07:37 PM

All this "just to noon?". Oh my goodness. My goal is to work on the quilt I am making now. Getting close to finishing. I deserve to just sit after cleaning out the garage and washing my car yesterday, and then mowing the lawn today! I think the sewing is calling my name.

auntiehenno 10-19-2010 02:42 AM

Well, granny, I am going to try and get to my machine a finish a cheater baby quilt. Have already done one thru the summer, for his twin brother. The boys are the sons of former SIL and his wife. Will eat some breakfast and go back to bed for a spell.

sewTinker 10-19-2010 03:19 AM

today I will spend the morning cleaning and doing laundry, and the afternoon in my sewing nook. Cutting fabric for my mom's signature quilt. Did quite a bit yesterday but am now second guessing my color choices...

Quilts for Kids; an organization that gives them out to children with life threatening diseases, cancer etc. It was started here in PA and is now nationwide. Downy and many large fabric companies supply the fabric, we just sew them, and also make quilts from our stashes. Log onto http:/www.quiltsforkids.org and read about it.

Wow!! I haven't read through all of the posts on this thread, but already I know that I need to get up from here and get started. TODAY IS MY DAY. I"m going to the LQS which is 30 miles away to pick up a new book and fabrics for our quilting group's BOM for this year. (We began our year in September. I have no Civil War fabrics in my stash so I get to go shopping. Woohoo!

Yeah, read through the whole thing; this started on Sunday and is still going strong. And no I didn't get all my projects completed, I didn't even get SOME of them completed. Today my day started with burying my poor fish. Don't laugh, he was almost 6 years old and over 12"long; my grandkids will be crushed to learn of his death.

Psychomomquilter 10-19-2010 04:31 AM

Yesterday I finished the secretpals, the quilts, pin cushions, so now on to the next doll quilt, pin cushions, and making things for upcoming Christmas, not making, finding ideas for the gifts!

chamby 10-19-2010 06:58 AM

okay worked on nephew and his wife's quilted throw last night. Finished making the binding and have only 3 more sides to sew before this is completely sewn on. I will finish this tonight.

Grandmama Pat 10-19-2010 09:39 AM

Okay, Grann of 6, which Christmas table runner pattern couldn't you resist? I'm curious. You said you hadn't been feeling good but the heart was ok. If you keep up that pace you patterned for yourself, you won't be ok. Take care of yourself and try to take it easy. I haven't felt well for the last couple of weeks either, so I've slowed down a bit. Even took a couple days off work to rest, but that didn't happen. Try to pace yourself and don't get overwhelmed with what has to be done. My motto - "It will be there tomorrow."

I will post a picture of the runner and pattern when I get it finished. Was going to do that today but my huge fish died in the night so had to clean the tank. It is a 55 gal tank so has been an all day job. I want to bring the basement fish upstairs and eliminate the tank in the sewing room so I have more room for machines. My health issue seems to be a necessary adjustment to some of my meds. I am slowly feeling more energetic so I guess it is working. No nap today, yea!!

Lynette-Merlin 10-19-2010 01:29 PM

Makes me feel tired to think of what you are proposing to do today!! Actually reading this at 22.26 hours and the only sewing I did today was to hem a pair of trousers I bought last winter which were far too long. I also made an oven glove out of a pineapple block that I made at a class and didn't like (waste not, want not). We do something called 'Street Watch' so DH and I went out with two coppers and walked through the village for an hour. Had six people to supper. Night all!

Well, I DID it!! I lived up to the nickname my DH gave me many years ago -- Fabric Fingers. I went to the fabric shop and found all of the fabrics that I need for the quilt. Also picked up the book -- Big Book of Quick Rotary Cutter Quilts, Pam Bono Designs. (Remember the precious truck quilt, Keep on Truckin' that was posted a few weeks ago?) On the way home, I stopped at an Italian buffet, found a cozy table and looked through the book while I ate. When I got home, I began washing some of the fabric. There's nothing like a new book and a new stack of fabric.

I have to "unsew a row of machine quilting that didn't satisfy me. No fun but I want it right.I do professional longarming.Funny how it can take 10-15 min. to stitch originally but will take several hours to unsew.
But this weekend I will make up for that by going to Hummingbird Hills Retreat in Ky. www.hummingbirdhillsretreat.com

Yeah, I have to do the exact same thing. I was trying to do a Greek stitch, and it did not work out as well, as I was not feeding it through to accommodate the weight of the quilt. So, it looks a bit messed up at times in the Grecian stitching. This part is going to hurt my schedule. Good luck with yours though.

Wasn't a very busy Fri/Sat but we managed to make about $350 on stuff we didn't want or didn't have room for so that's good! The neighbors who helped made a fair amount too.

So maybe I need more fabric???????????

Maybe it's my bad vision, but it looks like there's something strange on your cat's head/face, in your avatar. What is it? I'm so curious.

You all sound so ambitious. I am babysitting for 2 grandchildren today. Hope to get the bias binding I cut and sewed end to end yesterday pressed and ready to put around potholders I have been working on. Baby steps I figure are best. Have a nice day.

I am quilting sofa size quilts (42x72) for three teenagers from problem homes. I found nine "words to live by" (about 5 by 8 inches). The words are black on off-white linen. Example: love, achieve, accomplish, enjoy etc. They are all Christians so the words are placed in the form of a Cross in the middle with bold bright colors. Before I began I cut one word out, measured and washed to be sure they would not shrink or the black letters would not run when the quilt is washed. Tonight the third one in being quilted with shades of pink and mauve around the words for a thirteen year girl. God bless. Quilting Joan

You sound busy for sure. After water aerobics today,I'm going to Joanns for a 1/2yd of fleece.Gonna make myself a scarf to keep the winter winds away from my neck/head.The older I get,the more I hate cold winds blowing around my head.Have 3 table runners almost ready to back....think I'll just turn them out & sew along edges. My DDs & Grdau will never notice :-)

arpdesigns28 10-26-2010 07:14 AM

Sewing Goals for October 26, 2010:

1. Finish a Circular quilt top I've been working on since like August
- Piece and sew borders on
- Sew on the last major border for the quilt top
- Sandwich and start drawing design onto the top
2. Study Calculus- Continuity
3. Continue my quilting, if the storm front Louisville's expected to be hit with doesn't delay me.
4. Assemble new sewing table (no, I didn't get this done last time :x) )

Well, I dunno, this sounds a bit on the overly-ambitious side, but striving for it. Hope everyone gets their tasks for the day done!! :)
