Okay, so my last 2 weeks have been lost to doctor visits and not feeling particularly well, so today must be attacked with gusto. I feel somewhat better, just knowing my heart is okay. Anyhow, here is my list of To Do: Finish 3 Quilts for Kids that just need batting, backing, & quilting. Make 6 Christmas table runners from a new pattern I can't resist. Start some machine embroidery for a Christmas project, do 2 weeks worth of laundry, Make a couple handbags my DDIL (and myself) have been requesting. That should take me to noon   :-D Now what are you guys doing today? Oh, and my DDIL & I went to a perennial nursery yesterday and I got about 30 plants to insert into the ground at some point.

wolph33 10-17-2010 04:41 AM

you go girl-that is a big list for 1 day.I have 4 QFK quilts to sew labels on and box up.not sure what else I will do but it will involve fabric

beckyw 10-17-2010 04:42 AM

Going to work on putting together secret santa gift. Finish tablerunner for winter swap. Work on bag for grandson. Make some boxers for another grandson. Help my granddaughter with a quilt.

Minnesewta-sam 10-17-2010 04:43 AM

Oh my that's a lot to do today. I would help you if I could. Glad you are feeling better, but don't overdo yourself. Take it easy!

deema 10-17-2010 04:54 AM

I wish my goals for the day involved sewing. I am cleaning my kitchen (and fridge, I hate cleaning the fridge). And I have two big RubberMaid totes in the entry way that are filled with shoes...I'm going through them and getting rid of what I can (one of them is JUST DH's combat boots...*sigh*).

BUT all of the cleaning and organizing I've been working on does eventually LEAD to sewing. I've been puttering away in the basement, organizing and sorting and throwing away so much crap, with the goal of having a functional dedicated sewing space/safe play area for the kids. This way, the kids and mommy can BOTH go to the play room...they get their fun, I get mine :) And it gets my sewing machine (and all things related) off of my kitchen table (which explains why my kitchen needs cleaning...LOL). One of those big bins from above will hopefully be emptied and used to store batting. :) The fridge just needs to be cleaned. Nothing about sewing in that one...

I have put away my current project and told myself that I WILL NOT work on it (or anything else!) until I get my space completed. It's keeping me motivated, because let's face it...who wants to clean a basement??

dakotamaid 10-17-2010 04:58 AM

Meeting with the former owners of our new home to talk about this and that. Than heading back to Iowa to paint and repair old house for sale. Unfortunately that all does not include any sewing although I did experiment with the arrowhead block in the current issue of Quiltmaker during the football game yesterday (we lost!). Cute block and so easy!!!

I know what you mean. My garage has all the boxes and bins I had to drag out of the basement when I had my flood 2 weeks ago. They are bins of scraps that I need to make a decision on. They only bother me when I try to pull the truck into the garage and worry about crushing one of the bins. Solution: stay home and keep the garage door closed.

oldhag 10-17-2010 05:04 AM

I found a sticky note on my sewing boudoir door from my DGD. It says that when I am ready to sit down and sew, I have to call her because she has to finish her projeckt. Guess what I am doing today! :-P

ssgramma 10-17-2010 05:04 AM

No sewing here today. We have to finish cleaning up from a garage sale. 90% of leftovers were packed up and moved to the shop building yesterday but we were soooo tired that we quit. Really just a few things to pack or put away and then folding up the tables and getting my cutting table back in the sewing room.

Wasn't a very busy Fri/Sat but we managed to make about $350 on stuff we didn't want or didn't have room for so that's good! The neighbors who helped made a fair amount too.

So maybe I need more fabric???????????

117becca 10-17-2010 05:06 AM

i painted my bedroom this weekend and stained the windows...trying to put that all back together. I had a 4 day weekend and gotta get ready to go back to work tomorrow :(

I have my quilt frame next to my computer and my tv, so i do quilt when i'm sitting here.

3incollege 10-17-2010 05:13 AM

I have to work on a wall hanging today. I have to have it done by Thursday! But it is Sunday, that means football , so I might have to wait untill Monday to start.

TammyM 10-17-2010 05:51 AM

My day will be spent at the sewing machine finishing a quilt for my DH. I haven't made something for just him in a long time. It is his christmas present and since he isn't home...now is the time to get it finished!

thequilterslink 10-17-2010 05:52 AM

No idea what i am sewing on today, but i am gonna sew even if it is just one seam LOL, having withdrawals.

dasmith2 10-17-2010 05:58 AM

Im hoping to finish off the quilt top for this months doll swap. If the kids cooperate and not destroy the house I should be able to get it done fairly quickly :-)

Annaquilts 10-17-2010 05:59 AM

LOL Sounds like you got enough to do for a couple of years. Glad to hear you are doing better and your heart is ok.

Well my goal for today is to find some time to work on quilting some of the top for my oldest DD 22 and maybe some of the one for my second DD19 or atleast draw soem quilt lines on the top. Look for purse patterns with maybe a zipper or consider ordering the bow tuck purse. That is it. LOL

Terryl 10-17-2010 06:07 AM

I'm working til 3:00, DD is coming to my house at 3:30 to work on quilt she's making for DSIL, I'm going to work on getting my October secret pal squishy finished, begin my secret santa, finish my pincushion swap, and add borders to a quilt a friend honored me with by asking me to make it for his mother. Should keep me busy until dinnertime :) :) :)

Melinda in Tulsa 10-17-2010 06:10 AM

I'm so jealous of all y'all that get to sew today! I have to get the yard mowed, it looks awful and have to repair fence in the pasture.

But tomorrow is another day! I have a log cabin tablerunner class that I'm going to.

Mariposa 10-17-2010 06:11 AM

Boy, you are busy! I have a table runner to quilt, and also load a quilt onto the long-arm. Anything after that is a bonus!

litacats 10-17-2010 06:11 AM

I made 3 bags today, did some house work UGG. cuddled cats & kittens. I have six new baby Scottish folds only 2 days old.
and now I am going to put mum to bed tidy up a bit and go to bed myself. I may even get to bed before midnight.

MaryAnna 10-17-2010 06:19 AM

You go girl! You must have eaten your wheaties this morning! Whew! I thought I was the queen of multitasking! You run circles around me for sure! Well, I too have a long 'to do' list and I'm playing hooky from church this morning in order to get some of it done! I plan to finish my youngest son's quilt top today...I've got to finish the sashing, inner & outter borders and cornerstones, etc. And sandwich it for quilting. Out of all the steps involved with quilting, I hate the sandwiching part! Maybe because I don't have much room, I don't know. If I can get that done today and laundry, I'd be thrilled.

My goal is to have his quilt & the Le Jardin one (avatar) tops quilted & done by Halloween so that I can knock out some Christmas quilting.
Send some of your energy my way!
Blessings,
MaryAnna

lots2do 10-17-2010 07:08 AM

I'm making goody bags for my students out of Halloween fabric - need 19. I'm going to go through my patterns to find a handbag that I might be motivated to make for myself. Other than that, schoolwork and a little tidying.

Chasing Hawk 10-17-2010 07:11 AM

I hope to get into my sewing room today. I have to get that quilt done so I can wash my DNA off of it.....LOL

Plus I have to get a few more goodies started and finished in time to send off for Christmas presents.

sunflower126 10-17-2010 07:31 AM

No sewing today although quilting will be on my mind. We are heading east to Lancaster for 3 days of shopping at the quilt shops--Burkholders, Sauders, Weavers, Goods etc. Have my projects ready to go. See you on Wednesday night.

ashlett 10-17-2010 07:47 AM

I have put two quilts together ready to quilt. They are for my two eldest grand-sons. I have done a roast, cleaned out my hens and fed 6 ponies. Sunday night I watch telly. :-)

clem55 10-17-2010 07:54 AM

Going to undo everything I sewed last Sunday!! Old machine and new seams don't jive, plus I discovered I was off about 1/8 inch on several of my strip cuts, so need to get those out and re-cut new ones. Doesn't sound like much, but I had three strips to a set, and about 20 sets done. Now why those strips didn't show up at the begining I'll never know!! But I'l be putting the ripper and new machine to work today.

MaryStoaks 10-17-2010 07:58 AM

I'm trimming the jump stitches from the back of my big project, a 50 state birds machine embroidered quilt that I quilted last night. The backing is tiny little flowers print so it's hard to see the threads.

kellen46 10-17-2010 08:46 AM

Today I will clean the kitchen and finish piecing the blocks for a sailboat baby quilt. Not necessarily in that order.

grammyp 10-17-2010 10:15 AM

Ok, reading your list has made me tired. Think I will take a nap now. My goal is to get my machine back in it's cabinet and make some blocks for an exchange. Then maybe some chocolate.

Treasureit 10-17-2010 10:24 AM

I was all excited to work on a quilt for my soon coming GS and then realized I must have left the pattern book at the fabric store when I was buying the fabric. Now I am stuck until I can get a new book. Anyone have a copy of Buggy Barn quilt book called Those Crazy Kids they don't need?

Since that project is at a stand still I am floundering for my direction.

Yah, my list made me tired too. I did get my laundry done and hung on drying racks on my deck. Ran out of room. I finished another QFK, one more to go, but not today. Got a runner top together and can't find my new can of basting spray. Walked past my 55 gal. fish tank and saw that my 12" long rainbow cichlid I have had for over 5 years, since he was the size of a quarter, is on deaths door step. So my energetic list has hit a brick wall. I think it is "wine o'clock" and time for a break. Don't you just hate it when somebody throws a monkey wrench in great plans?!?!?!

IrishNY 10-17-2010 10:40 AM

Gran,

I'm with you - imagine what we could accomplish if life didn't get in the way? I am hoping to hit the machine once I get the other stuff I have to finish out of the way. Went shopping this morning, so we have food to eat again, have been doing laundry all weekend and hope the end is in site, and have to badger the rest of my family to do their part. Of course, I have to get off the QB and that is never a certainty!! :-D

Good luck to everyone accomplishing at least one quilting project or part today!!

jackkip 10-17-2010 10:47 AM

I am working on my oldest Daughter's wedding dress. Doing the bustle and adding tulle so it won't be quite so long. Wedding is in 3 weeks, can't wait. :-)

Beginner64 10-17-2010 10:47 AM

Well some of you are awful energetic sounding with all of your expectations for one day. Almost makes me sweat just thinking about it. Ha Ha I guess I'm a little more down to earth hoping to make a quilt square to practice my fmq so that I can finish my baby quilt for our GD. Then maybe I'll clean the bathroom and make supper.

Honey 10-17-2010 11:39 AM

I am doing some hand sewing while watching the Packer game. Then I have more food fabric to cut for a picnic scrap quilt that DD will raffle off for the Giving Tree. After that I will make supper, if I have time! If not, it's up for grabs again.

Oh No! I hope your fish will be ok....do you have other cichlids in the tank? sometimes they'll gang up on one, or if mating, the female will kill off the male. at any rate, I hope he'll be ok. Yes, that's life, best laid plans go awry! At least you've gotten a few things done from your ambitious list!

No, sadly he looks like he is rotting from the outside in. He is just laying on the bottom of the tank looking very sad. He has a tank mate, a chocolate plecostamus that is about 14" long. They are buddies. I have another tank in my sewing room in the basement that will be dismantled when "Howard" dies. I have an upside down catfish that can't live with Howard, and a couple gouramis, and another pleco that my daughter gave me when she cleared out her tank. The fish's name is Howard Huge; my DGK's named him. My day is done now. I just had to go over to my daughter's house with a house key because my SIL and DGS locked themselves out. Good time to call this day a total loss.

Thanks, MaryAnna. It really seems silly to feel sad about a fish, but when you think of how relaxing they are to watch. And my grandkids just love him. He played games with them. One girl would go to the end of the tank and put her face up to it and he would swim really fast across the tank and bang into the glass. Then the other girl would do that at the other end of the tank and he'd swim at her too. And he would tell me when he was hungry. He looked like he was talking, with his mouth going open & closed and bobbing his head up and down. Here is a not so good picture of him with his tank buddy. Note how all his "toys" are piled in the corner.
