Check out my tutorial for today - you may find a solution you have in your sewing room already.

Thanks for the link!

What great ideas for a holder. Yes, I plan to make my own & am really happy for all the suggestions. Do I need a tall mug or just a standard one? I've never bought a cone before & am not sure what size they are. I ordered mine from Superior Threads.

Cones come in so many sizes that you may find yourself using more than one container... The idea is just to keep the cone from traveling around. You want the bottom to sit squarely, and you want the thread to unspool easily without tangeling.

For a thread guide, I used the pop-top tabs that come on soda pop cans. Just pull it off the can, straighten it a bit and tape it where you want it on the sewing machine. The tab is a nice little metal circle that doesn't get in the way but does hold the thread secure in the path.

I use a tall and narrow glass jar, works great
