Lately, I have been taking cake decorating classes, so far I love them.

Watch out !!!!! It has just begun !!! The more you have, the more you want. I have spent most of this week, cleaning out, re-organizing my "cake closet." It's addictive. And books -- well, you just can't have enough. CDs, too. And then there are the pictures of beautiful cakes on line. I'm a duck that doesn't know how to store things in the computer, so I PRINT everything I want to keep. I have volumes. And it goes on, and on, and on, and on, and..................

Happy baking.

My weakness is remnants. Somehow I can justify spending if it's reduced to less than half of its original price.

GailG: When you see something on the Internet that you like and want to come back to all you have to do is add it to your FAVORITES . At the top of your computer screen you'll see file/edit/view/FAVORITES/tools/Help. Click on Favorites and it'll take you to another screen that asks if you want to ADD TO FAVORITES. Click on ADD to FAVorites and it'll ask you where you want it saved. You can create a new file such as (Cakes on the Internet) then hit OK. You now have that site in your FAVORITES. Good Luck! I use to print everything too until it became crystal clear they don't make a house large enough for everything I was interested in saving so I learned to use the FAVORITES and I love it. I have files : Recipes then under recipes I have subfiles with cake, pies, candy, etc. I've done the same with my Favorites for Quilts with subfiles for Applique patterns, Quick & Easy Patterns, Rag Quilts, Dresden Plate Quilts, How to TIPS, etc. Works great.

Good luck,
Feathers

Hmmm, 6 pages of weakness confessions so far......

My current weakness is applique patterns. I have accumulated enough for several lifetimes but still covet more.

I still have a soft spot for old sewing machines, but my husband convinced me sell off my collection about ten years ago. He had a point. I loved them, but I never used them because I prefer my modern Bernina. They were collecting dust. At least I found a fellow collector who I'm sure has loved them as much as I did.

Now I satisfy my craving for old machines by purchasing inexpensive ones at thrift stores and fixing them up to donate. A local non-profit conducts quilting classes for the disabled, and many of the people would like to sew at home but can't afford a machine. I've donated a lot of fabric, books and magazines to that non-profit too.

Prism, what a wonderful way to have your cake and eat it, too! How nice to help others!

Feathers, thank you sooo much for the mini tute. I will try. My kids have tried, but I'm so lost in the fifties.... I have registered for a computer class at the public library in March.. Perhaps then I will be able to do a little more. Thanks again.

I agree with k3n. I could get alot more finished if I could stay OFF here.. ha ha ha But I love all the pictures and all the good advice and suggestions.....

I've decided not to close the closet doors that hide the fabric. If I have it in my face, I will not buy it. Must not buy anymore, I have way too much fabric!
