Oh I am in suspense now. Really as everyone else says, I bet it is not that bad. Just remember one person's trash is another person's treasure. Many people sleep each night with nothing and would love to have it, if you decided to go the donation way. Just don't trash it, i am sure one of the suggestions made before will be better than the trash!

OK, I see a great Carpenter Star with a border that is...well...not exactly complimenting the rest of the quilt. If I were working on this I would definitely keep the star. Take the borders off and take it to the shop with you. Audition some new borders, and get advice if you need to.
This will be a nice bed quilt, and I really think you will be glad to show it off when you get the borders on. Also, when you get new borders on you won't feel you're wasting your $ sending it to the LAQ. Last resort, you can send it to me and I'll put it on my bed. I really do like the star. Darren |
I'm with maryb119, I think maybe change the borders to solids, black would look stunning. I think if you do this you will have one knockout quilt...I love the design and your colours....this is so NOT an ugly quilt.

There are just soooo many colors in the quilt already, I did have trouble picking the borders. What if I leave the gold border on and then go to a very dark brown??? What width border would you put on? The gold one is 3.5 inches and the flower border is 10 inches.

IMO, the only thing wrong is the last floral border. It needs to be a dark fabric, even some of the blue floral that you have in the quilt would be nice. It isn't an ugly quilt!! It just needs to get tweeked!

I would take both borders off and put a plain border on preferably dark color. I like the star part of it

I love the star but, along with the others, I think that outside border has to go. It's a pretty fabric just not for your star. I would take the border off, take it to your LQS and I'm sure they can help you pick out a border fabric. With a new border you're going to love it.
