I know you have had a lot of suggestions....here's mine. From the picture what stands out to me is the large amount of white. I think I would be tempted to tea dye the quilt to tone down the white. I agree the border isn't doing anything for the quilt. I really like the basic quilt!! The large design is quite striking! I don't understand why your dd's thought it was so funny. I would definitely finish it. The quilting can make all the difference!! Don't give up on it!!! :)

Can't wait to see it.

This is beautiful...I would just change the border to the green that is in the quilt or the navy print. It will change the whole look of the quilt. It is beautiful.....Sharon

I really have never seen an ugly quilt; I love them all! I think donating it would be a wonderful idea if you really don't like it.

I'm with everyone else. The star is beautiful but the last border needs to go. After you add a new border, we would all like to see it again. You also have some great areas for showing off some quilting.

donate that quilt to a homeless place or goodwill, or even to the local hospital----there is always someone who can use it. and they may think it's beautiful!!

When I first saw the pictures, I thought Oh My Goodness, I want that and I could not understand why you don't like it. But I do agree with others that the last border doesn't go. I would use either a black or maybe a blue that matches what is in the star. And as Lindy stated "are you willing to draw names?" If so please add my name to the bunch who would love to have this one.

Why use borders? The star looks great! A lot of quilts have been done without borders. I think the tea-dye idea will help tone it down a little, if you like.
Practice your machine quilting and use it for a picnic blanket. Things like this quilt can build great family memories. |
