There was a lady here in town that was a hoarder.. she passed and her DD had the undaunting task of selling her things so the house wouldn't be repossesed. Her house and garage were literally packed full of things. You had to stay on the little path so you could just walk. It was really sad.

Not knowing the lady or seeing the situation, I won't say that she is a Hoarder but...personally I don't see how she can enjoy her fabric. I do have a decent stash but it is out where I can see it. When the shelves are full, I know that I do not need to buy more until some of the stash is used. But that is just me.

yes but then it makes me realize that my house is no where near as bad as those ones, so then I feel better about my mess!!

That is insane! He is an enabler too! I think that she needs to be on Hoarders! Many years ago I went to a consigment shop and there was a whole room filled to the ceiling of fabric that a woman had collected over the years and her husband was selling it to pay for her medical expenses since she had passed on...

I have been cleaning one closet or cupboard each weekend since watching the show, "Hoarders". My stash is contained to one large cupboard and 3 tubbies. I use my fabrics eventully. I don't think that constitues hoarding but I sure enjoy my fabrics. I think that as long as I get pleasure from them, they are worth keeping.

I posted before about my Great Aunt's house being a pack rat. It was too overwhelming. Please don't leave any clutter for a loved one to have to deal with. I was so angry with my Aunt for leaving me that mess I didn't care what she had stashed. My family knows that all my sewing supplies goes to the guild for auction. If any family members want any of it, they can go bid on it.

As time goes by I am changing my buying habits. Now I only buy sale fabric online for my stash and I look for basics that I know I can use alot of different ways. I buy larger pieces for backing at Wal Mart. Fat quarters are now batiks as they are always easy to put togather, you dont need to match colors so much with them. Batting I only buy at Joanns with coupons.

The object to purchsing fabric is to use it - she and her husband should be forced to watch the TV show Hoarders.

I understand the thrill you get when you purchase a fabulous fabric or get a great deal - but the best high you can get is when you create something with it. But if you don't use it - then why buy it at all.

Life is too short

I have a feeling this woman is a 'dreamer' which causes her to buy all this fabric. I bet she spends quite a lot of time planning projects that never materialize. There are dreamers and there are doers. She probably doesn't complete much but has a great time envisioning. If she and hubby have the money, rock on. But, I would think this fabric would eventually smell musty if stored outside in a storage building. It might need to be washed in my washer first. ;>
