It's too hot and humid to quilt when....

Your hand is sweating and you can't grasp the needle.

Your face is sweating and it's dripping onto the fabric.

Your butt sticks to the vinyl top of your sewing stool, even though there is knit pants between your thighs and the vinyl.

Ask me how I know!

Ditto.

this has been a miserable summer for me. I don't have a/c and I don't tolerate the heat very well. My electric bill is up d/t all the fans I have. I do my sewing when it's hot like this and save the quilting for cooler weather since I hand quilt on my lap. It makes me shudder just thinking about it!!! I think that's why I love fall so much, it's such a relief after the hot summer.

That's me, 24/7. Beat menopause but now I'm on anti-estrogen. And to think I complained about cold feet for 40+ years. LOL

When is it too hot to quilt? NOW
I moved here (SW Indiana) from Arizona. I can take all the heat you can dish out, but the humidity is killing me. I HATE it!! I hate the mosquitoes, I hate the gnats, and the biting flies. And because I'm from AZ, I don't consider 50+ inches of rain a year NORMAL!!

Never too hot or humid to quilt in the UK....just woken up to yet another lovely wet and cool summers day !!

Even though we have central air, I turn it off during the day and float around in the pool. Can't quilt there and it's hard for me to see well in the evening, so I haven't sewn too much lately. I still prefer summer to winter.

Well, we are in a severe drought, so I have almost forgotten what humidity feels like! But, I must say too much humidity and too dry neither one are great! I am just thankful we have a/c, and am praying for rain...and autumn!!

It's not humid here right now, just really hot outside. We have the coolers on, and it's wrecking my ability to quilt by hand. I can't force myself to sit under a warm quilt while it's close to triple digits. LOL

Tell me about it. My sewing machine threads get all tangled because they won't stay behind the needle with the fan running directly in front of me. I also avoid turning the iron on so I'm constantly having to wait for it to heat up.
