I think that is rude, crude, and ill mannered.

Buyers should always read the fine print.

I would complain too and i dont' see how it's legal to sell pages out of a magazine. you are making a profit off a designer. what's the difference in selling a quilt made from a designer's pattern and not asking first??

Thank you all so much for hearing me out. I emailed the person and let her know, very nicely, that I was more than unhappy about the matter. She is a widowed woman who makes her living this way. She researched it and found it was legal. So she picks what she feels will be good sellers and puts them up on Ebay. This one did say, in very small print, that my son didn't even notice, the pattern was from a magazine. However, reading it that way, I still would not have made the connection that it was 3 pages torn from a magazine. She was kind and I am now educated.

I have purchase patterns on eBay sold this way. It did state what it was in the description, but I only paid 99 cents for them. That particular seller had a lot of them listed. Shipping was reasonable. They were neatly cut out and in a plastic sleeve. I didn't mind because I wouldn't have gotten the magazine and with quilt patterns costing upwards of $10 I thought it was an OK deal.
As for absurd shipping charges, this is often the profit margin for eBay sellers. I was recently looking at a pattern on eBay at a really great price. Surprised to see no bids on it at the last few minutes. Then I spotted the $8 shipping. Not saying it is right, but it's the buyers responsibility to check out the fine (and not so fine) print.

The one I purchased did not say it was from a mag, but I think things have tightened up lately on the descriptions.

If you can't sell the complete pattern from a magazine, then we can't re-sell our quilt books either.

Leave feedback saying the pattern was pages from a magazine so be aware. You can say the truth in feedbacks.
