I got mine at an auction about a year ago. It is a 1946 and I paid 200.00. What was also interesting about it was that under the bottom was a letter from Singer congratulating the woman for buyng such a wonderful machine. She lived in NYC. It also had a receipt for a cleaning in Maine - the shop is closed now. Love it and would love to buy more, but running out of room. If I ever did see another one at an auction, I am sure I would bid on it. At this same auction (different time) I got a Singer treadle (totaly refurbished) for $15.00. Had my grandmothers, but just couldn't pass up this one.

I forgot to tell how I got my featherweights. My first white FW I bought it on Ebay and it was in very bad shape. The green/white case was painted chocolate brown, the bottom fell out of it when I took it out of the shipping box, then the folding part of the bed fell off, the internal belt was falling apart...it was a horrible experience. I evenutally got her repaired and sold. I bought a black 1954 from a local pawn shop and it had every attachment except the walking foot, she lives in Iowa now and is an only machine and well loved.
I bought a very pretty white 1964 from a FW guru in Florida, it was in excellent condition and was sold and lives in PA. The next several came from Ebay sellers. I have 3 FWs left, 2 black and 1 tan FW. They all sew very well. I bought the tan FW from Sun Catchers of League City,TX at the Houston quilt show and picked it up at the
Dallas show the following Spring.

I would love to know where you found a website that you are able to copy the manual? I need one. mine fell apart years ago and with five children things do get misplaced.

I got mine from my late mother. She got it new after my younger brother was born so she could make his diapers and clothes for my older brother and me. She made most all my clothes and a lot for my 3 brothers through the years. She taught me how to sew on it and I fell in love with sewing. It still runs like a dream and is a work horse. I made the Professional Tote bag with it and had no trouble stitching through the thick fabrics. I made 3 wall hangings (one for each of my brothers) of my Mom at her machine. She loved her pansy's and knitting so I used the pansy fabric and hung them on some of her old knitting needles. I gave them to my brothers for Christmas and they really loved them. I will make one for me but I am going to add another pic with me at the machine.

I found my FW in an antique shop after having eyed them at the "yard sale" at my favorite QS, they were quite pricey, showed my DH what it was and walked away, deciding that I would check out the antique shops, as we were looking around I passed a display case without looking into it, having spotted something around the corner, my DH tapped me on the shoulder and said I should check out the case, and lo and behold there was a little beauty, the shop owner pulled it out and we plugged her in and now she is mine, that was 5 years ago, got her for a great price, last year was checking out CL and found a machine on there, called the number and the lady who answered said she had a FW up for auction, I told her my top price and she called me back 3 days later and brought it to me at work, my clients and the people that work for me thought I needed to have some mental therapy for buying such an old machine until I explained to them the great deal I was getting, I love my little machines, a 1947 and a 1954
