I converted my back bedroom into my sewing room.

For years... it was my dining room table. Now...I have a permanent area in our basement.....decorated and designed just for me. My little piece of heaven on earth. I LOVE it!!!

In the past, I have a Hooser cabinet that will hold most everything I use for crafts, sewing and paints. My sewing machine has a simple cabinet that has been an endtable, night stand and hallway table at times.

Current, I have a space in the guestroom that is large enough for my cabinet, and work table and sewing machine. I had a closet fitted with shelves just for my sewing and crafts. I can spread out on the guest bed if needed but mostly stay on the work table. This is the best I have ever had.

I am fortunate to have 2 rooms for myself one for fabric one for sewing and fabrics.Then I have 2 more rooms for my cats, husband has copd, so and I share with the kitties my TV and naproom.When we build the house all 3 kids where still home.

I am converting one of my spare bedrooms into a sewing/art studio. Since I am an empty nester, I can do this... The other spare bedroom will be my office and guess bedroom.

When I moved into the mobile home where I live now there was a living room and a large family room. Since I live by myself I didn't need both so turned the family room into my sewing room. The previous tenant had also enclosed half the front porch and made a small room that I use to store all my fabric and projects (plus my freezer as it won't fit anywhere else) but it's mostly sewing stuff. Even so, I still sew on my dining room table a lot as I can see the TV with the cable box from there. The TV in the sewing room doesn't have a box so limited channels.

I did sew all over the house, but now that kids are grown and gone, I have turned a bedroom into a sewing/computer room. Another bedroom has desktop computer and I take pictures in there if I am selling fabric and books. It's nice to have a room all by yourself!

Have a look at "jappaned" finishes for wood floors. Basically it looks like a black paint but can be very attractive and might cover the other paint splashes!

Can you find a corner somewhere? In the laundry room? Or basement or attic? Or in a closet with a chair, desk and lamplights ?....a permanent place is so much better because you can pick up and sew.

I just this year started quilting so I don't have a specific area for quilting supplies. I bough an armoire that I store my fabric that I'm accumulated as well as other craft supplies. We're going to start some remodeling, again, this winter and I plan on making an area just for me. I haven't quilte figured out where that going to be yet. My son, who is 27, is still at home and my third bedroom, which is very small, we remodeled into a walk in closet. It's great to have the closet space but now I don't have an extra room. I plan on purging the house this winter, getting rid of everything I haven't used in a year, which might turn out to be alot of 'stuff'. I just finished a quilting class and I have all of my applique pieces and fabric in a cloth bag. For now, I curl up in my favorite chair, turn on the tv (for companionship mostly, can't sew and watch tv a the same time) and work on my applique project. Hopefully, by the end of this winter I'll have a space all my own...Yippie! ! !
