I don't have any LQS or fabric stores close to me that I am aware of. I buy some fabric on line or at Quilt Show vendors.

I shop at Joann's with my coupons. Won't shop at Walmart. Ocassionally a LQS, but mostly Joann's. I've never bought fabric online. I like to feel what I'm buying.

Speaking of shopping------just found fabric in my Wal-Mart !!!!!Yeah!!!!!!!It is back. Jungermann in St. Peters, Mo. Checked with a friend in (Weatherford) Texas at the Wal-Mart where I worked for 3 years and it is back there, too. Hope this is going to happen everywhere.

I wish Canadian Wal-Marts would bring back the fabric departments, they do not plan too. They do not even sell quilting acessories anymore.

I buy everything online as it costs too much to buy fabric in Canada there is a restriction that they have to mark it up BIG time. You will not find anything here under $16 a meter.

I use fatquartershop.com and connectingthreads.com a lot.

I shop online at Etsy.com. There are lots of fabric shops and I usually only buy Moda fabric. I have always had good luck with them.

Where I shop depends on what I need. If I am shopping for fabric for an entire quilt, then I will start online at connectingthreads.com because I can shop within collections and know that the fabrics all coordinate as well as finding matching thread/backings. If I only need one or two fabrics, I will start at Walmart, or go to JoAnns if I am in the city (one hour drive). I have a hard time shopping online as I am not always certain that the color represented on the screen is true to life, nor can I be sure of quality. I am one of those quilters that gets pleasure from petting fabric. ;)

Like many others, I shop everywhere. I like to order the Mirage fabrics from ConnectingThreads - it has the same feel and look as ShadowPlay, their Batiks are beautiful, and often their clearance prices are FANTASTIC. Our local Walmart has restocked it's fabric and they now have many of the same fabrics that I've seen at local quilt shops and JoAnns. Recently I ordered on-line from $5Bucksa yard and was very happy with their service - and the fabrics were brand name quilting fabrics.

I bought from https://www.etsy.com/shop/CraftySweetPeas she cuts generous lengths and mails the same day usually. Ask her for your colour and she helps find the right fabrics for you. She gave me 15 % discount for my second order and my other orders have been 20 % off. Nice girl and easy to work with.

Lately, I've been confining my shopping trips to quilt stores to when I'm traveling--chalk it up to burn out on my own local quilt shops and a healthy stash.

For online purchases, I use Keepsake Quilting, Fabric.com, equilter, Burkholder Fabrics. If I'm hunting for an older fabric that I need more of, I do a web search and will buy from whatever little shop may still have some left. I did this recently and bought from a shop in North Dakota and a shop in Idaho. They were very nice and helpful.

I avoid purchasing fabric from big box retailers because I've found the quality of greige goods available in that setting to be inconsistent, at best. I'm sure there are many who've never had issues with fabric from big box stores, but for me, I'm not willing to take the risk.

fabric online

Marshall dry goods.com has great fabric at great prices, I have bought thousands of yards from them.. shipping is always costly but the lower prices makes up for that
