I get good quality white cotton sheets. Between 250-300 thread count. I buy them at Ross, or TJMaxx or Marshalls. It doesn't matter to me if they are irregular, since I am using them for fabric. But I find them hard to beat for price and sturdiness.

One caveat- beware of cotton sateen! It's nice, but not easy to use.
