Just wondered if I am the only one that has UFOs sitting around. I do usually finish them, have one that took me 5 years to finish. You all know what I mean? unfinished ones.
I do, atleast 6 maybe more. I have 1 with the top half way done and then decided it was ugly and can't seem to even touch it.
Ha ha ha ha .... I am not telling on myself like that. Too many to count. In my own defense though, I spent much of last year using up tons of orphan blocks in projects, and I finished four of the ufo tops.
Actually, a group of us counted our UFO's last year. I was told I had to count every quilt top that wasn't quilted and every pillow top that was quilted and not made up yet, as well as any project that was started, even if it was cut, but not the fabrics and/or pattern that were chosen for a quilt. I don't remember the exact number but I had over 100. I think it was closer to 120. I was amazed! So, I'm devoting this year to working on UFOs and I've already finished 4 tops and working on the 5th and 6th.
I have about 80, and if i never do anymore on them, that is fine with me, and if i decide to finish them, then that is great too. I have enjoyed the process and learned from each one.
UFOs, WIPs, and PIGS galore. Not counting - not telling. lol
Too Many! LOL :)
Thank you eveyone you made my day and I feel so much better about myself I don't have as many UFO's as some of you do. However I also crocket and have UFO's but we are not counting those!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's just say more than a dozen.
I'm not telling how many UFOs or sewing machines, I won't squeal on my neighbors either!
Today, I was admiring two quilts that my mother finished recently when my son so encouragingly remarked "See Mom, Grandma actually finishes quilts."
UFO's? Not me! I have at least 6 and I am still starting another one? Is that wrong?
Only about 8 or 10
I'm gonna tell on myself here... ALL of mine are UFOs! The quilt in my avatar - which got me started quilting two years ago - is waiting for the binding to be sewn down on the back. I have a "Wickedly Easy" ready for binding, and several tops finished, but they need quilted. The Wickedly Easy is my first attempt at machine quilting. Now I am working on a flannel top for my brother... it's all good! :D
Gee, that's almost like asking how much I weigh! LOL I prefer to call mine WIPs! The only one that will remain a UFO is a flag I was doing with cheap FQs that I hated working with. It was all narrow strips, some fabrics were too loosly woven, some too stiff. I doubt I'll ever finish it. Everything else is in various stages of progress with the intention of finishing. :)
I couldn't tell. Every time I open a box or a drawer I find another one! Next year, after I retire, I will sort them out and find a home for the ones I decide I don't want to finish. Then I'll work on finishing some of the others.
I have 3 WIP's but that is only because I had to have carpotunel surgery. Now I should be able to get those done within the next couple of weeks. Having WIP's makes me very uncomfortable so I don't usually start a new one until the one I am working on only needs hand work done. That doesn't, however, stop me from buying fabric for future projects.
I think I have about a dozen. I'm trying this year to get them ALL finished before I start anything new. I'm also doing the Quilts For Kids, so they take priority over finishing UFOs.
I try not to count them! I know I have at least 5 that are 'sandwiched' and waiting to be quilted. I have another 3-4 in various stages of piecing - maybe 5-6! And I have some smaller projects that are in various stages.
my list never goes down- finish 1 and another takes its place. I have 12. But they include 2 I will never finish because I don't like them. I should put them on the board and make them go to a new home.
why not show pictures of them so other menmbers can help out......one woman's/man's ugly may be someone elses treasure. i would love to see what other's ufo are looking like. right now i just have one cause it's giving me problem's. i have to get to at least the top done and i call it done til i need it then it will get finished. i usually don't make anything just because, i have a reciever in mind but lately i've been making tops just because i HAVE TOO !!! lol
I'm in denial!
Blessings, Ruth |
I will have to say I have about 10 tops ready to put together. But would much rather make the blocks than finish the quilt. But I will finish all of them. Plan on starting on them after I finish this wedding quilt I am making it is due by next Saturday
more than 12
I have no idea how many I have, they are hidden in the closet. I do want to finish them.
They are floating around everywhere here. I'll finish them all someday. Maybe.
I have many UFO's although last year I finished the tops to 2 of the oldest - maybe this year I will quilt those! I have lots and lots of tops -- I don't think I have as many as Pamela but she made me feel better about having so many!
I only have two projects I've not finished ... One I've bought material for ... and several in my head ... does that count?
I don't feel too bad - some have more than me and some less. Thanks, ladies for making my day! I consider mine a work in progress. LOL!
Our quilt guild has an on-going quest to finish our UFO's. With each completed UFO we fill out a 3x5 card, pay $1.00 and put our card in for a drawing at the end of the year. The winner gets the majority of the pot with 3 other winners. It is incentive for us to get those UFO's out and finish them.

---------about 10----------------
I have too many to count - Yikes and new things appear everyday
I have 3 right now. I am waiting for some pictures before finishing my nephews Bar mitzvah quilt. So I can't do anything until I receive those. My husband asked me to finish a project before I start another one so I but the second away and just have the fabric and finished squares for one quilt out. I guess he was getting tired of all the fabric I had out in our bedroom. Poor guy he has been very patient with me and my messes. Those 3 are just the quilts. I also have 2 knitting projects in the hopper and I am also deconstructing jeans for a denim quilt.
I dont have many - I have the two tops I showed on here recently - to quilt - one (the Purple jewel box) will be quilted and bound by the end of the week.
The Bob the Builder one (with better borders!! hee hee!) is waiting for me to afford the batting. I have started a 2 1/2 inch square - random single bed quilt (11 blocks down - 22 to go!) I use this as my sanity job at the moment - I have had some awful sewing jobs for other people (alterations) so I knock out a block after a few hours of horrid stuff - makes me feel better! I also have a bundle of 4 inch squares with Strawberry Shortcake on, I'm planning a single quilt with HST's arranged in different patterns - haven't stitched any yet... My English Paper Pieced GFG - which I always have on the go - great for traveling or cozy nights in front of the fire! AND - I suppose I have to count the stupid 'open my mouth and offer to make a quilt' which I need to get doen by next month!! Haven't cut a singel piece of that yet though!!! I'd call all those 'Work in Progress' myself. (of course - I'm only looking at quilting for this - right?) |
I probably have about a dozen quilt UFO's if I count the blocks from exchanges that have not yet spoke to me as to how they want to look when they grow up.
I did finish one yesterday that is going to a co-worker and a top for another that has to be finished and delivered by the end of the week. But these are also the 2 most recent ones I started....lol so that didn't help with any I already had around did it. I have at least 2 others that are ready to sandwich and go to the quilters soooo, they'll get done eventually. Muriel |
I don't have any. I finish every quilt I start.
Well, I have two sets of blocks waiting to be sewn together, a crazy patchwork wall hanging waiting to be backed, a heart design wall hanging to finish, fabric waiting to be cut for the OBW quilt. Since I discovered crumb blocks I have about 450 blocks waiting for inspiration to strike me, oh, and a quilt I made last year which I used on the bed over the winter and STILL needs to be hand sewn across the bottom to finish it off.
No way of knowing. I have so many I dont really want to know. I love starting new projects, they just never seem to get finished.
The last time that I cleaned my sewing room, I started stacking all of my UFO's in one spot with the intention of finishing them. I now have one whole wall covered with UFO's, I have at least 20. I've just given up, and never say that I am starting a new quilt, I just say that I am starting a new UFO!! LOL
